I posted a response to another thread ad i got to thinking about how helpful TW has been during some of the shittiest couple months of my life.

Started playing shortly before a 2+ year relationship ended. I was also battling substance abuse which was only intensified by the breakup. I had a hard time finding the motivation to do anything but feel sorry for myself, but TW gave me a distraction that at least for a few minutes everyday could make me feel a little bit of joy. I guess maybe it sounds stupid bc this is just a game, but it was there to give me an escape when i was in need and for that i am truly grateful.

Was wondering if TW has helped anyone else through rough times?

Me n my Gf went through a rely rough time when I first started. My phone was broke and the forums via laptop was all I had. She went counseling and we pulled through, but after 2+ years I thought we were over and it was extremely hard for me. Save for a few assholes, the majority of the community was external supportive.

Doesn't sound stupid at all. Makes perfect sense to me. I've seen players be there for others in a big way. It's like a giant dysfunctional family.

I've told a couple people about it a year ago or so... But I suffered a spinal injury in summer 2011 and had to stay in bed for several months. That's why I suddenly got active in the forums. Just had this, books, and tv for a long time. Taught myself basic electric circuits! More than once I was laying in bed, healing a turf under attack, and soldering a tesla coil together all at once.

👆👆👆 this guy and Raikou have helped me through some rough times. Great people. Even if this is an iPhone app, there are great friends to be found and made here

When my grandfather was home on hospice I had hung up my TW hat. Then I had nothing abstract and challenging to do while sitting about basically...waiting...attrition suggested picking it back up and I've never hopped faster in my life. It seems crazy, but if I hadn't had something like this to occupy my brain in the downtime I'd have gone nutz. Well, nutz-er than I already am. When gpa passed away it also helped to have something to stimulate the brain cells that didn't remind me of what had just happened. Because basically everything else around here did. And still does. Even still, Angry Birds does NOT cut it. Just generates a lot of abnormal monkey hatred.

The forums have helped me A LOT on stressfull days at work. If Im getting really pissed or down, I'll go hide out somewhere to read a good thread or two and just laugh. So many funny people on here it's awesome.

I'm having a horrible week. This is a great distraction for but a moment. The people on here are wonderful as well. The majority of them anyhow. I hope only more good people come, good people stay, and those that shouldn't be here get lost. But I always understand there are bad apples. And as Sara said before sometimes the house needs to be swept.

My 9 year old daughter was molested and almost raped by her bio father and soon after my 13 year old son's psychological state went down hill as well as dealing with my husbands third blood clot and my 8 year old sons psychological disorder I just need this game for an escape so I don't go insane with my life. Talking with people on here has helped me through so much.

Well, if it weren't for TW my girlfriend might not be alive today, we probably wouldn't be together and i wouldn't have so many good friends to escape real life to talk to. I've made friends on here i hope i can someday meet in real life. People i've got a lot of respect for. TW has changed my life.

I don't know about having changed my life but TW has helped keep me around. I've had serious depression for several years now. While I might not be very active I still come on daily to check the forum. Sometimes ya just got to stay to see what happens next. May not be much of a rope to hang onto but it works.
