And I need help. How are you supposed to evade monsters when you first start and are still collecting materials? What is the best way to start? How do you get so many materials? Tips? How do I get a server name and what is a server? So many questions!

1. Make a shelter (not a House) by either digging into a hill or placing little pieces of wood to hide in.

A server is really just a multiplayer version. If you want a server to play on, google it or ask around. PlanetMinecraft.com is my personal favorite site. If you'd like, I could pm you the ip of one me and a friend a working on building.

I usually spen the entire first day amassing at least 6 stacks of wood planks, and building a free standing 8 x 8 structure on a flat plain. Keep some wood and get a furnace, build torches and light the area around the home. Build a small mine, and expand house, eventually using better materials. Usually by 3rd day ample resources are found. I play Minecraft all the time, and of anybody has questions or wants to talk about Minecraft. Just leave me a PM

2. Collect wood. Make a house. Mine in/near your house.

3. Mining gets you many minerals.

Tips: gold breaks extremely easily, so it is useless. Diamond is the best. There are swords, pickaxes,axes,shovels, and gardening hoes.

Meh not really... Kill a lot of endermen, the ehes you get are used as a guide towards the fortress... Equip one, throw it (left click??) and it will fly to ards the direction of the fortress. I was unfortunate enough to walk a long time from server spawnpoint, found a nice little island, but was screwed as i builded my house right on top of the fortress lol

So how long has eveyone been playing? 1.5 was when I got it but I played at friends houses from 1.3and personally I think it got a lot worse from 1.7 on. I still play. Just i don't find the new updates anything special.

Use mods for materials at the start with difficulty on peaceful

I played it on pc now I'm on Xbox playing it its a bit out dated but it will soon catch up! I prefer console gaming

I have been only 1.0 and I love it. But, now I play a launcher that has about 20-30 mods including industricraft, forestry, and equivalent exchange! It's amazing and has more creatures and ores. It's called technic pack and it's a free download on technicpack.net if u have a minecraft account.

Does anyone have a server that is running a rpg mod that levels up your skills, and the owner isn't a narcissistic maniac. Because that's my favorite server type but the owner always throws hissy fits randomly and resets the server or picks favorites.
