Why not be you?
Forums βΊ General Discussion βΊ Why not be you?-
Now the girls thread sparked my interest, I'm not taking sides but it does raise the question of why lie on the web? What does it get you? 20 min of being a different person? And you accomplish what? Nothing accept agrivating the ones who actually are truthful, it just bewilders me to see people mascara ding as another, are you really that unhappy with your life? Just be real and you will be comfortable with yourself, what others think os there business and chances are they are just as worried what you think of them, so I figured I would introduce myself, my name is Nicholas, I'm 23 years old and am a welding apprentice, I have a very beautiful daughter whom I love very much and my best buddy who has and always will be there for me! , and honestly Those two are all I need to be happy in my life. So I guess what I wanna say is BE YOU AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!
I am πREBELπ and I approve this message!

Eh. Maybe some people want to be more. And with this being nothing more than a game, what harm is there in a little pretending? What's the point of playing a game when you have to live in reality?

I approve greatly, sir! π...Oh what a tangled web we weave when do we practice to deceive...

Some people do it for popularity reasons. Some people really do hate themselves. Some really do want to be someone else. They figure lying will do this and they usually get caught.
Also, nice to meet you, Nicholas!π -

I can see the point of playing a game, it's to escape reality, but pretending to be someone else is entirely at your control, if you wanna be in the air force then do it if you wanna go skydiving do it, sitting and hoping it will happen or saying that you already do these things online isnt going to make it happen and it only leads to high tensions, like the girls thread. Some people put a lot of faith into there friends online, for some it's like a constant for them( something comforting and always there) and to have that entirely uprooted by someone pretending to be something they are not, can affect a person just as drastically as in real life.Eh. Everyone's been so nice on TW (except the trolls and generally angry people whom I have met none of). It kind of feels like a second family here.

Ever play cops and robbers as a kid? A lot of people on this game are just kids. And pretending to be something else doesn't mean you don't like who you are. There's nothing wrong with a little fantasy. This is just a game, after all.

That's actually a very good point, I hadn't actually considered the younger kids factor, but for those of a reasonable age I just find it very odd.Ever play cops and robbers as a kid?
