About a year ago, here in the Milwaukee Public School System, some of the schools started handing out condoms to students to encourage safe sex. The question is, by doing this, are they helping or hurting? I believe hurting because it encourages sex in a way but it also encourages safe sex do its hard to say.. What do you all think? Helping or hurting?

Handing them out probably isn't smart, but making them easily accessible is probably a good idea.

Mhmm, teaching them about safe sex is one thing, but giving then condoms is pretty much encouraging them to have sex. I mean the more people having sex with or without protection will increase the possibility of spread of diseases or pregnancy. And some kids may even use condoms at first, then start not using protection.

It's going to happen irregardless of what is said on here, and passing them out has no effect on what's already inevitably going to happen.. At the most it'll prevent a few pregnancies here and there.

Yeah even if they use protection, it could still fail..

Encouraged sex means more pregnancies and spreading of STDs
Here in SD there was some sort of discussion parents had with the school district because 4 schools had condom dispensers in the bathrooms 2 were highschools and 2 were middle schools
(the middle schools in the same areas as the high schools)

I believe that theyre intentions are good but could have been delivered better. Maybe not you but someone at your school is havin unprotected sex and maybe that will help them think about using protection. But overall public schools are hurting by not having enough in their budget to hire good teachers and fix the school system. I've had some pretty bad teachers not teaching a damn thing which left me feeling unprepared for college

Giving condoms to kids encourages the creation of giant water balloons thrown by guys into girls restrooms.

At least, that's what we did with them in 1986 when I was in Jr. High school.

It's a little one fingered latex glove! Who gives a shit it kids have access to them??

Nobody is getting some just because the school puts baskets by the front door.

Worst case senario? Safe sex by those that would be doing it anyway. That and wet bathrooms.

At my school they showed us how to make them in science class from latex gloves!!!! I was cracking up!😹😹

Well, sex is much more common now a days; not as sacred or preserved like the older days. This helps because it prepared the youth for the changing times

If they're gonna bang, they will do it with or without protection. If they aren't gonna bang, then then it doesn't matter. What they should do is focus on sex education. Inform them, rather than enable them.

How is it the government's role to hand out birth control? Why the hell can't people be responsible for themselves anymore?!?!? Kids should steal them from the gas station like we did when we were young!!! 😂

At my school we had a class where we were given condoms and were taught how to put them on carrots.
Only 1 girl (out of 110) got pregnant before we left school

Kids are gonna have sex.
Giving them a condom won't make them suddenly have sex if they weren't planning on it already
