SoCal Weather

What the crap is going on here?? It's 105 degrees and we're having the nuttiest, hardest daytime thunderstorm in over a year. At this temperature, I'm not even sure how hail is possible. The Weather Channel says there's just a flash flood warning, but I'm convinced we're having another bizarre tornado.
I love thunderstorms. I stopped what I was doing, now I'm enjoying a beer on the balcony, watching the lightning, hearing a bunch of car alarms going off & lots of kids in my apartment complex screaming everytime there's thunder.

It's always hot here. But it never rains...
-
Lmao wow! Sounds lovely
-
Glad I don't live in SoCal.....you guys have the worst weather EVER!....
-
I can see my car from here. Management had put these green signs on a bunch of garages saying they were doing garage checks over the next few days (so people are using them for their cars, not storage) & now a bunch of the green papers are stuck on and around my car, along with a crap load of leaves. I don't even know where the leaves came from, there are no trees in the immediate area!

Okay, and just like that..it's over. Weird.

Download weatherbug (an app) and you can see the radar map of your area. It's fairly accurate. Sometimes you can "predict" when the rain/storm will come down to the very minute. Great app for nerds.

Exactly. That's why I was expecting tornado warnings. I didn't think it was possible here, but in May 2008 we had 2 tornados going at the same time and it was hailing so hard that it looked like everything was covered in snow. Throughout the storm, I was stuck in the car trying to get to school. The freeway was closed due to an overturned semi & every side road was either flooded, blocked off, or both. The 30 minute drive to Riverside took over 3 hours. That sounds like weather here in the midwest

Yeah, a lot of us freak out on the road at the slightest precipitation. Southern Californians just don't know how to slow down & we get so little rain that there's tons of oil on the roads all the time that when it does get wet, it gets super slick.Southern californians crash when it sprinkles so that must have been devastating

Ah you guys are having thunderstorms...no fair. We're in a drought and we're heading into our 4 or 5th heat wave.
We haven't had a strong thunderstorm yet in 2010 (very ultra supercalifragilisticexpialidocious rare).
Enjoy it. 😋

Weatherbug is great. I used to have a weather station till some crackhead stole it.
As for odd weather-we have several micro-climates here. I used to live on the edge of a trough. So many times it would be raining on the houses across the street from me, but on my side of the street.

Lol, person who made this thread is doing EXACTLY what i would be doing

We have been getting some weird weather. It's not usually this hot at night and day. I haven't heard any thunder, but it did sprinkle a litttle later in the afternoon though.

I agree. Texas ones are pretty good, but there's nothing like an Arizona thunderstorm. The lightning bolts stretch across the whole sky, all spider-webbish. I can't remember the science behind it.. Something about the dry heat causing extra static electricity or something.I love a nice big thunderstorm, sounds like you do too... Something about it just inspires awe, and I must go out an see!

Typical I go to one of the best places in the world and a couple of weeks before the inhabitants are argueing about whether they have a thunderstorm or a bizzare tornado.😰
-
Lol hate the weather 😓☀

Desert storms are the best. Especially monsoon season. Last time I was in Kingman, it was raining so hard I ad to pull over. And the lightning is the greatest show ever.

It didn't rain to hard where I am, but you could hear thunder, and it was LOUD!
-
Bella is awesome. Yea...
