Why do Americans write the date like this - MM/DD/YYYY ?
In Australia we write the day first then the month then year.
It seems to make sense to go in that order. Any thoughts?

Thats how we verbalize it. 'its may sixth twenty twelve' etc. do you guy verbalize it as ' the sixth of may'?
