So I want to restore my iPod 4g 5.0.1 without updating it and iTunes won't let me do that. I will be working off of a windows 7 computer with norton. Google has been absolutely no help whatsoever -.-
Reason why I want to restore it without upgrading it is because it says I have over 2 gig of "other" when I plug it in to the computer and I have no clue what this "other" is. It is jailbroken so I don't want to upgrade it to 5.1

Goddammit if google doesn't know no one will know. I guess it's time to bring out the big guns. Somebody go find Chuck Norris😜

Firstly download the firmware you want to keep
Restore your iPod
Right click update, choose open or choose file then choose the previous firmware.
I'm not too sure if it will work like that on a windows comp. tho, as I done mine on a mac.

You must get the firmware for 5.0.1 and go to iTunes.then just right click restore and go to the 5.0.1 firewater and hit open. Then restore. It worked for me and I have windows 7

Where do you get the firmware at?

Similar problom, same phone. Went to apple store. They advise to back everything up and do a factory restore. Then re-upgrade. Apple techie at genius bar said for some reason when you install it the first time, the files get corrupted.
