The idea is to follow on from the previous post with the main aim of 'trumping', or, bettering that act.
You should pick a band/group or artist(s) whilst stating YOUR reasons of why that act defeats its predecessor. The reasons should be your own and based on your own influences, opinions, tastes etc etc, as there will be no official voting procedure. Feel free to change music genre's.
I'll start and get the ball rolling with a random:

The Sex Pistols
Pros: Responsible for initiating the Punk movement in the UK and inspiring future alternative bands.
Kick ass names; Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious.
Cons: their career lasted only 2 1/2 years, producing 4 singles and 1 studio album.

The Ramones
Pros: All American punk that the UK loved and provided the template for new stripped down sound. They were about the music not the image unlike the Sex Pistols.
Cons: They never truly got the accolades they deserved

The Talking Heads
Pros: David Byrne considered one of the biggest music risk takers since David Nowie, an accolade in itself. Considered far mor lyrically superior that The Ramones, who by the mid 80's had become more mainstream than alternative. Considered never to have made a bad record.
Cons: Too many psychedelics!
