Nonchalantly pondering my TW existence.
Forums › General Discussion › Nonchalantly pondering my TW existence.-
Ive been considering quitting TurfWars for a couple of days now, and have basically decided that I cannot, despite the time it wastes in my busy life. It made me wonder though, if anyone would notice and care if I quit. I realized that I'm too much of a frequent troller poster for people to not notice my absence, but I don't really know if most players would care. I know several would rather I shut up (sorry to disappoint you guys lol) ...
Anyway, I figured I'd try to explain myself a bit. Please don't post till I'm ready, because I'll be thinking as I type, and my comments will probably be a timed apart somewhat. -
Please also note, you may well find my TW life story boring, or irritating. I apologise for this, and bid thee a fond 'fuck off'. Go read another thread if you don't like this one. I'm thinking aloud, if you don't like that, get over it 👍
If you don't mind me posting this thread, then cheers. I appreciate being able to sit here in my sleepy stupor and mutter incoherently about myself.👍

I care.. I'll send u a virtual hug..

Meh, maybe not. Turfa, you know we love ya man. Yeah sometimes you troll like crazy but you don't seem to take it overboard. My vote is you go nowhere.

Don leave bro.

I began playing turfwars about five months ago. I was living with my girlfriend, out of a job and almost penniless. I remember the day I downloaded the app: I'd been playing some other shitty iPhone game, and it had an advert for TW in it. I gained coins by installing and running TW, so I did. Needless to say, I no longer play that game.
I was in a perpetual shitty mood at the beginning. It wasn't that I was angry, it was more a consistent boredom and jitteriness. I was sick of being cooped up at home, being nice and abiding by the laws of respect and general acceptability.
The new app requested a name, before I could begin playing. I typed in my normal game password, and sat wondering what the hell I could name myself. -
Ugh! Why did things have to take so much brain-power? Then it dawned. This was a mobster game. People probably didn't care about anyone else. They were probably all bastards with crude names, and I'd better use a crude one to fit in.
Motherfucker was almost definitely taken already, so I made up a gangsta, tag-language style version of it, and chucked a little German slur on the front, for coolness and extra visual virtual points. Ze MFkka was born.As I progressed in turfwars, slowly mobbing up and acquiring my first few bits of loot, my real life was also maturing and progressing. I left my girlfriend, moved house again, and began looking for work.

Money was always an issue, both in the literal world and my real life. I found a job, and began working part time. One day, I had twenty-odd dollars lying around, and I thought to myself,
'Fuck it, I'm going to buy an iTunes card and buy Don points.'.
I drove down-town and bought an iTunes card at the local supermarket. I took it home, entered the key and bought my Don points. Ze MFkka had lots of upgrading to do.
By this time, I had realized how wrong my initial assumptions had been in regards to turfwars. I knew I had to keep my name's meaning quiet, and I knew I had to change it soon.
I had chosen a simple code early in my virtual life: one that was mildy cool, made sense, and was easy to remember. I decided to use it in my new name, along with a couple of cool emoticons. -
Ah, I remember when you were called Ze Mfka, you made
A thread about changing it to Turfa. Good times... -
I changed my name, and began buying turf limit. I spent a lot of time speaking to people, both via Private Message, and in public, on the forums. I learned how to be accepted, and I began making friends.
In real life, I was beginning to go out more often too: clubbing and socialising became my new favourite weekend sport, and I started making new friends in real life.
As things began to get busy, I cut back a little on turfwars, and almost quit using Facebook entirely. I was beginning to find my feet, both in the real world, and in turfwars. One day, my best friend's father asked my friend and me to do some work on his property. We agreed, estimated a cost, and did the work. From this job, sprang the idea for a company partnership.
We began working on this plan, and life became busier.
My turfwars life was becoming busier too: I had found myself somebody that I regarded as a bully, and was making it my goal to eradicate him. -
I remember that to!
You made a thread asking
For advice, because you were starting a business! -
As I punched codes and continued slowly mobbing up, I found it necessary to buy several more iTunes cards to pay for more turf limit, to pay for more weapons.
Turfwars had become my outlet: where I could retire into a virtual world of relaxation and socialisation after a busy day. I overtook my 'bully' in mobcount, and began steadily removing him from town after town. I then began removing his uncle from town after town.
I figured, if you can't make your nephew listen to good advice, you could share his fate. Turfa was becoming ruthless: he had entered virtual pubescence, and was flexing his muscles.Working under my partnership's company name, I found a job at a sawmill, and suddenly my workload more than tripled. I cut back again on my use of my favourite app, and began concentrating on making even more money. Life was buzzing, but I was not enjoying it.

Did you know we are the same age? Just a passing point to ponder lol ... Pity you live a kazillion miles away 😝 -
Meh ... Life got busier and I had more things to worry about.
My little brother, recovering from a major brain operation to remove a cancer and attempt to save his eyesight, my car being badly damaged in a high-speed accident, losing jobs and gaining others ... I was strung out, and an iPhone app began seeming unimportant and silly.
I smoke. I smoke tobacco, as though it were going out of fashion (lol. It actually is) ... It's an addiction.
Some people gamble.
Some people do drugs.
Some people are adrenaline junkies.
All are addicted to something.
I'm addicted to turfwars ... But it's not that I'm addicted to the game. It's that I'm addicted to you.
You. People, friends, enemies, I'm addicted to the conversations we have. I am a very social person, and when I'm not out clubbing or at work with co-workers, I need to be on here, chatting and having fun. So, I won't quit. I can't quit. I need you all too much - corny as that sounds.I'm here to stay, at least for now.
-
I hope I haven't bored you too much. I don't think I really finished my story very well, but the tireds just hit me. It's 3:00am and I'm awake ... still ... and again. Take care everyone. Good luck in your real lives. I hope you're all blessed with good fortune, and I hope nobody else quits tonight.
I'm going to sleep.
Your friend, I hope,
Turfa. -
