Cyber bullying or trashtalk?
Forums › General Discussion › Cyber bullying or trashtalk?-
Where do we draw the line? When do the insults become more than just insults? This is an important discussion for tw as its by nature a wargame, so trashtalk is sure to occur and is a deffinate part of the game.

Cyber bullying on turf wars is capping 15+ turfs and then calling them a dipshit. Trash talk is like capping 2 turfs and saying you're an idiot.

Is it? Do we have to be friendly in a war game for it not to be qualified as cuber bullying?§αʋcɛ☠BʘՏՏ wrote:

No. Ok I'm not that experienced in this section of life tbh. I think your better off asking someone else.
-
How about when the comments offend. Or when you are asked to stop with the name calling. There are things that I will say in public and other things I will say privately. But because I find certain things offensive I would never say them to another.

Another thing we all have to realize is that on the other side of that screen is another living breathing person who may or may not be having a hard time and might be sensitive to what you are saying.

Btw im nkt taling sides at tjis point. Just trying to get the discussion going. For once im sitting on the fence at least at the outset of this.

Kids today are a bunch of spineless pussies that were brought up to think nothing bad will ever happen to them. Guess what in the real world bad things happen to good people. To me cyber bullying is all bs. Nothing is making you stay on your phone or computer and continue to take the "abuse" you have an easy way to avoid it but choose to stay and endure it. People need to quit being so damn sensitive.
-
I think real-life threats, prejudice, racism, encouraging suicide, etc. should be considered cyber bullying. Name-calling and turf capping are fine.
-
I think parenting is the root cause of this, I blame my parents for my actions. It can't be my fault I was raised in a dis functional house hold.
-
In my oppinion, you can only bully someone if you know who they are. Other wise, someone can call me fat, yet im 145lb and 5'9". It doesn't and shouldn't hurt my self esteem.
A classic is when someone gets the idea that "you have no life and you probably live in your moms basement". They have no clue who you are, so it shouldn't hurt you personally. -

I think that cyber bullying can not be defined with a certain breaking point. You can say a lot of shit to me and i would be fine whereas someone else may take it much differently how are we supposed to acknowledge where the breaking point for some are? Esp when they are just poking the bear... Your getting bullied im sure its for a reason both parties need to know when to stop. The best method would be to not act like an idiot onnthe internet anyways you dont know these people and you prob never will that does not make it ok to ruin this game for people.

True. But when youre playing a game that often times gets heated, this can be a very tricky dividing line. They have the opportunity to get away from it though. Nobody is forcing them to get on here or Facebook or MySpace, they choose to. In RL if you know going somewhere or doing something will cause problems for you then you generally try to avoid those situations.Jeremy B wrote:

I'm sure this isn't always the case, but generally speaking wouldn't there need to be a real life connection for anything to be truly considered bullying?
I get that there have been suicides over cyber bullying, but how many of those cases involved kids that went to the same school or at the very least had a common group of real life friends? Compare that to how many of the cases involved social games like this where real world connections are the exceptions to the rule.
@Jeremy, I couldn't agree more. I spent plenty of time stuffed in my locker or got made fun of in middle school. I know plenty of people that were bullied. I also knew several people in high school that took their own life. Those were two very different groups of people.

This is ridiculous. Bullying has NOTHING to do with the types or names you call someone. Bullying by definition is when you make someone fear you through use of verbal or physical abuse. I can call you every name in the book for the next 10 years but if it doesn't scare you or make you afraid of me it is NOT bullying.

No it doesn't make you a bully.. But when you take advantage of a player because of their small mob or their skin color or anything like that then you are a bully. Now that ppl are using the Internet to do this the term cyber bullying is born.fun6754 wrote:
