I hate when people say NASCAR and Golf and other sports aren't sports. What really makes something a sport?
-
Recreational physical work that's fun❔
-
I can tell you what is NOT a sport- cheering for a sport. That's right, cheer leading IS NOT A SPORT

If the players involved need physical effort and stamina for decent periods of time, it should count as a sport. NASCAR is NOT a sport, sitting down requires no exercise

But if so, what is racing considered then? -

I agree with everything except the NASCAR comment. It is very exhausting for these driver to drive for hundreds of miles. Think of how there arms feel after that. You need stamina and endurance to drive NASCAR. ( I don't even really care about NASCAR I don't watch it )If the players involved need physical effort and stamina for decent periods of time, it should count as a sport. Both physically and mentally challenging at the same time.
So NASCAR (Go 48!) is a sport because you have to hold down on a pedal for 300 miles and keep your arms up while constantly jerking at a steering wheel. The mental part is the strategy of when to pass and when they should go in for a pitstop.
Golf is a sport too. It is physically challenging because you have to have a great swing and be very strong to compete with good players. It is mentally challenging because the folders have to calculate wind speeds and the angle of a hill. -

If it involves running in any way shape or form, it's a sport. This includes martial arts because we do running for training.

Don't bother stating your opinions as though they are facts. -

Formula 1 drivers are some of the most strongest, physical atheletes on the planet. They have to be. The amount of changing forces they withstand for such a long period of time, most wouldn't be able to handle. It's a physically exhausting sport. There's no way you could deny that.

Any Thing that can be hit thrown or catched is a sport. 📱
-
My definition of sport is simple - if you play a game with set rules and the winner can be determined on the field of play, it's a sport. If it requires judges to determine the winner, it's an "athletic competition".
