To anyone who has dealt with brain cancer
Forums › General Discussion › To anyone who has dealt with brain cancer-
Hey I have a question for those of you who have seen the early stages of brain cancer first hand. I just heard back from my nurologist about an MRI with contrast and MRA that I took earlier this week, they say their is a 5mm mass in the pituitary region of my brain. While they can't confirm what it is yet they have scheduled me in with a nurosurgion from duke hospitals on Friday of next week. Can anyone tell me what to expect to hear from them, I can pm any personal details that you need to help with this question that go beyond what I will post here. I am a 17 year old male in highschool. Any information would be great, thank you.

First off, sorry to hear about that dude. Second, each patients visit can be different so the best thing to do is have a chat with your doctor.

good luck.

My wife's father and uncle both have had it, if you need someone to talk with ease feel free to PM me and I can get the wife involved in the conversation if you would like.

I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour 8 years ago. Benign , as they mostly are. Sounds very strange but went for a follow up and they said it had gone! Hang in there, sounds bad but they can actually operate through your nose as it is situated at the back. Positive thoughts bro.

I am a cancer survivor, although mine was melanoma. If you want to chat, just send me a pm.👍

Sorry to hear that. Sky is currently going through that as well.

If you belive in God pray to him I'll pray for you also. I don't if anyone says he's fake because a bunch of "coincidences" happen when I pray. Also get other religous friends to also. Brain cancer sounds scary.

Sorry to hear that! Keep ur hope up. My daughter has a mass in her brain, also found during MRI. They did MRI every six months for a couple of years. Never grew or turned into anything. That was 6 yrs ago. No problems so far.

Dont panic!
The vast majority of pituitary tumours are very treatable. And the treatments aren't too unpleasant either(relatively).
If I had to have a brain tumour I'd pick this one.
Feel free to pm me if you want

1st, a 5mm is very small. And all this is assumption. Everybody is different. But dont google! Most info you find is Out of date. Look on cancer.org
Brain, CNS cancer is always very difficult. With it being on the pituitary gland or close by it, I assume you had symptoms? Normally chemo drugs do not pass the blood brain barier, sept 1 tablet that starts with a t and i cant rmembr. So they may give you 2 choices. An omaya resivior to be surgicly implanted in the skull or take the head chemo thru a lumbar pumcture. She coiuldnt ha dle the surgery. A port will be plased in your chest too.
This is all assuming it is cancer and not benign.
Sending you buckets of hope!!!!

I was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer on 4/20/11. If I wake up a week from today, I will have beaten the odds; 87% of patients with my diagnosis do not make it to the first anniversary of their diagnosis. PM me if I can help you in any way.💣јОεуТнε฿омв🔥 wrote:

In the pituitary region it could be a pituitary adenoma, for example. I have two of them. They can cause prolactin levels to be off--that's what caused them to look for mine. We're watching them. They're very small--5 and 6mm--but man did the effects of the high prolactin ever bug the crud out of me! Fortunately, there's medication to counteract it. If they grow, I can have them removed...I believe through my nose. 👃😳
I'd wait to hear from the neurosurgeon, personally, before I did anything at all. He'll know tumor type, etc. and possibly need other testing.

My little brother is now 12. He was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 11: the only way anybody knew it was there was when he went blind in one eye. The tumour grew around the optic nerve, cutting off blood flow and killing the eye.
He had an operation within weeks of it being discovered, and is now living normally again.
Mate, please feel welcome to message me and talk if you'd like some moral support. I'm a good listener 👍 -
I have a cyst in the back of my head from when I was younger and got shot. (It was a corkscrew gun and me and my brother were playing it wasn't loaded and the mechanism came out.) They found it because my dad died from an anyuresum and they are hereditary. To make a long story short, I have lived with it and although it causes pain at times they have told me all that I can do for it. Some sounds scary at first so if you want to talk about it, I can try and answer your questions.
