Idk about in video games but in plays the fourth wall is the imaginary wall that is between the actors and the audience. So when an actor breaks the fourth wall they interact with the audience. Might not be the same but it could be similar.

Have you ever considered using google? It saves a hella lot of junk on the forum.

Plus as you get on in life, you will actually research these stupid little oddities that enter each of our heads every once in a while. Get in the habit now and save us all from your laziness. Any chance of a delete now?

In a play, movie or TV show, the actors interact with eachother. The audience watches the action through the invisible "fourth wall".
When the actor turns to interact directly with the audience, it's called "Breaking the fourth wall".
Like at the end of Assasin's Creed 2, when Minerva is looking at you, talking directly to "Demond" while ignoring Ezio.
