You know how it says turf must be on or built ne'er a street...keep tapping it where you want it to

Uh that's been known for awhile now. It's how people used to travel across water (untill Nick said he would ban and reset anyone who travels across water) so don't travel across water. But in some cities (NYC for example) tap tap method is the only way to lay a turf cause of the density of turfs
