My next trip! Somalia!

So apparently my company might be doing a trip to Somalia. I may get to arrange and conduct interviews with real pirates... What would your first question be?
-
Who was a bigger inspiration? Black Beard or Jack Sparrow?
-
Or jolly Roger
-
My first question would be "not looking to hold onto western journalists are you?"
Seriously mate, are you crackers!? -

Lol! Yeh I just fancy a free holiday for 18 months and let the government foot the bill hehe. All research will be conducted in a pre-negotiated "controlled" environment. I.e. They will be getting paid handsomely just to turn up, and see us as another revenue source. Quite unethical, but it's what people want to read about. My first question would be "not looking to hold onto western journalists are you?"

Let's face it their story is known, they are desperate Nd have a means to make a difference, may not be right, but I wouldn't want to have lived their lives -
I'd ask them about the reasons why they decided on a life at sea and how they feel about the international community useing there coast line as a dumping ground for toxic waste, and if this influenced there decision to hijack boats.
-
I cant wait to see you get kidnapped or ransom, sometimes they take your kidneys as a source of money
-
.45 or 9mm? Back of the head or do you want to watch for the flash?
-
I'd ask if they are able to imagine an alternate source of income, if their knowledge local knowledge of both sea and shore might be used in a different way. I'd also like to know how they perceive the situation in and around Mogadishu, and how they might be able to contribute to a better future for themselves, their families, and the region.

They'll use a dull machete to take his head off. They should post it on the Internet. It would be more entertaining than 99% of the garbage these "journalist" write anyways..45 or 9mm? Back of the head or do you want to watch for the flash?

Lol well I appreciate everyone's "concern". If you hear of a journalist getting kidnapped come July/August you heard it here 1st.
Seriously though, you'd be surprised how common this is. They are showing signs of wanting to tell us something. Plus it will be a free 2 week stay in Kenya ;-) -
Ha! I gotta do a project on Somalian pirates.
-
Ask them if any of them participated in taking down our Black Hawks back when that happend
-
Ask them if they know about the stargate in the gulf of Aden.

If no one care to read about the history of piracy in the Somali coast, most of them are young local fishermen, they first started driving away illegal fishing boats from other countries that are fishing on their waters. But those boats still comes back and fishing illegally . Well long story short there's more money To be made in ransoming the people and boats they capture and sure hell scare the other people venturing into their waters, it became a good business, you'll see a lot is connected in this piracy once you reach the ports and towns In Somalia a lot of people are making money off of it and it will probably not stop. Used to be young fisherman just trying to protect their livelyhood , now they are mixed with some hardened criminals and several warlords in the area looking to make a quick buck..

That's a pretty accurate summary of how things started there, one of the aims of the excursions will be to help identify what links these gangs have now at a local and international level. Anyone can hazard a decent guess but there's actually very little evidence to conclude who they are connected to. It's likely that 99.9% of what we'll be told is in some way inaccurate, but it's all about reading between the lines.snipped

🌹 I hope you stay safe and enjoy your trip 😳
But I wouldn't do it ✌
