I'm watching this for the first time and don't get it. First of all I get that the main guy is a cop and all but what's a Grimm ?

Grimm comes from The Brothers Grimm who wrote very gorry stories so Grimm became something scary.

A grimm kinda like a bounty hunter of the evil people/animal/things in the show. Watch a couple episodes and it gets clearer.
