  Wikipedia, " satan( the opposer) is the title of various entities, both human and divine, who challenge human faith." it's says that satanists believe that Satan is a being who is to be worshiped, or that it is symbolic, and concentrated on self living. I don't like either because if your worshiping the person that I personally believe is the devil, then you are destroying your self, and if you believe in self worship then it's bad for everyone but you.

  The point being, Satan, Hebrew for the opposer, was a name given to various entities by various cults.

  Just because you believe in one particular being and assign a name to him, means nothing to someone that assigns the name differently.

  Your question seemed to be, what are alternate definitions for the name "the opposer." my point is there are many.
