Question for the tech people out there

I have a PS3 hooked up to my HDTV with a HDMI cable. The Internet for it is over the wifi. When I try to download anything or watch movies on Netflix it is terribly slow. The hd movies look like crap and even the normal videos have to reload very often. If I had a wired connection vs the wifi would it solve my problem?

Likely

Most likely. You probably also have some issues with your port on the router that could be slowing your transfer rate.
-
Here's just a quick example, I have a 30 mb/ per second speed but wired it's 45mb/ per second

I figured a wired connection would be better since we all know wired is always better than wireless. Now another question...
Will speed be affected at all by plugging an Ethernet into the modem vs plugging into the wireless router? -
Having been 6 year Best Buy employee working both in computers and gaming, it is very likely that that going hard wired in some format or another will fix your issues. The PS3 does not support 802.11N (one of fastest wireless types currently). If the router isn't close enough to run a cord you can look into a power line bridge (like Netgear XETB1001).
It could also simply just be the security. It is recommended to have wireless connection encrypted using WPA2/AES to get greatest speed benefits.

I had no idea about the security thing. Thanks for the help!

No problem. Any security is better than no security. Just dont use a network name that identifies who's house it is like "No Fear's House" or "Jimmy's Inet" as examples. Also use password with mixture of letters (capital and lower) and numbers and/or symbols to protect yourself.⌖🔰 4⃣2⃣4⃣2⃣ 🔰⌖ wrote:

Yeah I live in a triplex and my neighbor borrowed my wifi one time because hers was down. About a week later I find out there using my Internet to play Xbox. Needless to say my wifi password is now bulletproof.

yes, unless your Internet is slow anyway

I had the same problem. And pluging the internet cable in did fix it. But no my ps3 wont read my px3 😭

What I've noticed with my PA3 is that when you have a wired enternet cable, than everything goes so much faster, a game that would take a day to download on wireless woul take 1-2 hours with a wired connection, if you can, get a wires connection, it'll make your life that much easier with your system
