My old band teacher used to tell me that practice makes perfect was a flawed statement. It should be perfect practice makes perfect, learn scales and play arpeggios and you will be pickin and grinning in no time.

Nope u're not.
I've got an electrical kit at home. Works awesome with good samples and a good randomizer. Really dont hear a difference anymore nowadays.
Mostly playing my electrical guitar though.
