Ok, then tell me the name of the energy that powers the force of gravity.UnknownAssassin wrote:
Forces use energy. This is what I am getting at.
Energy and forces cause change through motion of objects like temperature, and positioning in space. They both do essentially the sane thing, so wouldn't they be the same thing, in definition I mean and not the type of energy or force?
Energy is not a force by itself.
Therefore, energy cannot do what a force does without being used by a force.
The forces that create the energy for gravity are Attraction, repulsion, and Pressure.
Attraction to the earth, repulsion from earth/air, and pressure from atmosphere. -

Well, the process that turns the kinetic and/or potential energy into that new form of energy (thus 'creating' the energy) is what I'm asking. Like in the beginning comment I used sunlight as an example energy. Nuclear fusion 'creates' the sunlight.UnknownAssassin wrote:

@Tweek, answer the question than. Ignore the after replies but answer this:
What process 'crwates' gravity or (as inferno said about gravity being a force) the process that creates rhe energy that causes ad powers gravity? I mean create as in turns the kinetic and potential energy into that new energy that is gravity or that powers gravity.

Add🔥INFERNO🔥 wrote:
Ok, new question, what causes the energy to be used? There can be unlimited potential energy but something needs to 'trigger' it to become kinetic energy. What is the trigger, which could be implied as 'process' in place of 'trigger'.UnknownAssassin wrote:

Potential energy can't turn itself into kinetic energy.

E=MC^2 Is a conversion rate for matter and energy. -
Ok got it. Not 100% sure on an answer but you need time to think this stuff through.

gravity is one of the 4 fundamental forces. gravity, weak nuclear, strong nuclear and electro-magnetic. gravity is essentially the curvature of space-time caused by any matter w/ mass. there is no energy associated w/ it that i have ever heard of but i think the force is thought to be transfered by bosons. the boson for gravity has not been discovered yet. i recently read something by a physicist who explained it as when space time is compressed gravity doesnt pull you down but that spacetime is pushing you towards gravitys center

First off I have to say that if you are looking for answers to a topic of this magnitude, turf wars answers are not your best source of information.
I'm not an expert on the topic. I have taken several advanced physics classes including one on cosmology and have what I would call a light grasp on the topic. Not enough to answer your question fully, but enough to tell you that you're being fed a lot of bad answers.
Newton was the first to come up with a way to measure the effects of gravity, but he pointed out that forces push on things, where gravity appears to pull; something he didn't attempt to explain. (Continued)

Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. E=mc^2 is the mass energy equivalence. I did a quick look and I don't think anybody else came up with the right formula either. It is, Energy = mass times the speed of light squared. No movement, no force.E(nergy)=M(ovement?)C(force)^2
-
Einstein did much more by explaining how mass creates an indentation in space in time through his theory of general relativity. The trampoline example a few people are talking about is correct. But even einstein admitted to having no clue what made gravity work the way it did.
As of right now, there is no accepted explanation as to WHY gravity works. We know how it works, we can measure and predict it's effects, but there is currently no explanation explaining it's force. There are a lot of hypothesis out there, but no accepted theory. (Continued)

There are 4 known fundamental forces. Strong, weak, electromagnetic, and gravity. None of which require energy. For example, the strong force holds atomic nuclei together, while opposing the electromagnetic force imparted by the protons. It's incredibly strong, and doesn't require any energy to do it's job. You can say it just is. If it did require energy, the bonds would break down over time and we wouldn't see hydrogen in the concentrations we do.
It has nothing to do with energy (although it can influence energy). very little to do with E=MC2 (particle physics throw out the effect of gravity) and it certainly has nothing to do with the higgs boson, although there is a theorized gravity boson that has never been observed

There is the belief (I think) that runs on the idea that it is actually dark matter which creates the gravity effect.

Thereal question I think should be what is the "fabric" of space-time. Figuring out gravity first is like putting the cart before the horse.

Gravity is the same effect sitting on a trampoline has on a basketball. the trampoline represents the fabric of space and the b-ball is the planets or other objects. The b-ball is drawn to you because your weight on the trampoline like an objects weight on space. Does that make cents?
