Debate: Obama Care.
Forums › General Discussion › Debate: Obama Care.-
I see it has been asked to come up with a debate topic. This has nothing to do with republican or democrat, just assholes who want to make more money.
Try and keep it nice and peaceful. Also please pass the popcorn. As kids will have slim to no interest and trolls should be minimal. -
I don't want to be the first one to share my opinon.😥
-
Well. The current program named Obama care was actually created by republicans. I don't think I like having to pay money to a company just because I'm alive

It should've been a socialized style healthcare like england and Canada I think. I'm not too keen on these systems but the current billion dollar corporations playin with peoples lives o maximize profit is hardly good for society
-
Belial, although this is very true, being forced to pay, but do you drive? If so u are forced to purchase car insurance and there will still be programs to help the under privileged. I am on a state ran health care system right now and I quite enjoy it. Except for the f-ing politics involved its ok. But I believe there should be a system of checks in place to insure customer care and service are going to be of the highest quality. Next they should have a system in place to limit the costs. This system has worked wonderfully throughout most of the countries it has been implemented. I say we give it a shot. We are already financially screwed, whats a few billion more?

As a matte of fact they're cutting most free healthcares. Which is just great. In a crippled economy many people are going to end up owing the government tens of thousands of dollars and those barely making it are going to have to about $800 per month on healthcare.
-
Again, trueish trueish. But what about a state ran healthcare system (or federal) that gives you the OPTION to join in. Like Medicare or Medicade for evyone?
-
Ill need treatment, treat them.free.its a basic and I dont mind one bit paying for it.hell,I'd rather pay more tax for that than all the other stuff I'm paying for
-
the last thing you want is a profit based organisation, based on people's health

You mean a few trillion more, right? Because that's what it's going to cost. It's estimated at the end of 2019 30 million people will still be uninsured. Premiums are expected to go up because of it.Belial, although this is very true, being forced to pay, but do you drive? What's wrong with what we have now? I haven't heard of a single person being turned away because they don't have health insurance.
Better question is, does the supreme court strike it down? I think they do either 5-4 or 6-3. -

For emergency care a hospital legally cant turn you away. Wrong! I have no desire for socialized healthcare. If you think it's so great, move to a country that has it.messrine wrote:

The argument against the current "greed is great" system is that companies by definition have to generate as much profit as possible to satiate shareholders. If you havea severe ailment they can charge you whatever they want (obviously the more the better for them), and your only option aside from paying is dying. The reason you've never heard of someone being turned away is because those of us with insurance end up covering the care for those without, de facto socialized medicine. The argument opposed to federal care is; the government is terrible at spending money (they spectacularly waste), citizens are bound to abuse the system, politicians ALWAYS over-promise and under-deliver just to win elections, and a fear of "rationing" (defined by limiting or refusing expensive procedures/products based solely ona soulless cost vs benefit analysis).

No system is infallible, brest cancer is notoriously under diagnosed and improperly treated in England, but in contrast millions of Americans drive into Canada and purchase medications that keep them alive cause they are more affordable there. With public health care, there is usually an emphasis placed on preventative medicine, that tends to lower aggregate overall costs from a 'big picture' perspective. Again though in a individualized payer system you can choose your hospital and the quality of care you get. My opinion, balance between the two is probably the best option. But who knows...

U realize insurance companies operate on a lower profit margin than McDonald? And apple. And microsoft? We should socialize those companies too cause iPhones and Windows cost so much. Right?
-
Pharmaceutical companies and doctors/nurses/lawyers are the ones laughing all the way to the bank. That's why the insurance margins are such, but McDonald's corp. is doin pretty well too. And as soon as you "socialize a company" it ceases being a company. It becomes part of the government, how's that workin for Cuba? It wouldn't really reduce the cost, just change where the money comes from that pays for those goods/services.
-
If they could get insurance companies out of the equation that would save untold millions. Are the taxes that Europeans pay any more expensive than the taxes + health insurance that Americans pay? A basic service for EVERYONE, with additional costs for upgraded service would work for me.
