I have to get glasses or contacts. Which should I get? Why or why not?

glasses are ugly but contacts are gross

Depends.

Are you eligible for LASIK? My wife had that procedure done, and I highly recommend it.

I had contacts for many years. I eventually developed chronic dry eye, and had to switch back to glasses. The dry eye's not going to go away. So that is a bad thing. Just my two cents. I did like wearing them for all the years though.

If u can only have one, go glasses. Unless you are really active in sports, then go contacts. Contacts are great but are irritating on the eyes at times. I have both. Wear contacts while out and glasses at home.

If you can't afford LASIK then I recommend getting both. Contacts for when you need them and glasses to give your eyes rest from the contacts every once in a while.

Yes, but a very simple one. My wife had it done, came home with eye patches on and slept through the night with them, woke up the next morning and could see everything perfectly. Mind you she had real bad eyesight before. Not everyone is able to have it done though, but I would definitely look into it.

I reccomend contacts. I've worn them for years and haven't had any problems. I can't even tell when they are in and my eyes don't get irritated. They look better than glasses too 😃

I wore contacts for a few years before having problems with them. I had 2 week pairs and would wear them for multiple months. I never slept in them but my days were so long that I eventually developed ulcers on my eyes and could have gone blind if I didn't start the meds when I did. I know wear glasses almost all the time except for special occasions. So basically contacts should be okay as long as you are responsible about how often/long you wear them.

Contacts. I have worn them for about 4 years. I wear them everyday. I greatly enjoy them. I hate glasses because they get in the way. Plus, my eyes are greatly sensitive to light so, I can't see outside without sunglasses. I don't care for the sunglasses that go over the glasses. I greatly recommend contacts.

Look into CRT lenses. You wear the contacts over night, take them out in the morning, and your prescription is held throughout the day. They're hard contacts, but because you're sleeping, you don't feel them. I use them and they work great.

Neither your eyes have muscles which help you focus via cranial nerves 3,4,&6 and when you utilize glasses it's the same as getting help to lift a weight which over time will continue to weaken your eyes.
-
As well as cranial nerve 2 for focusing the lens. Sorry forgot that one.
There are things you can do therapeutically to help exercise your eye muscles -
I wasn't that crazy about contact lenses when I had them. Glasses are easy to maintain and I rarely have to take them off for any uncomfort reasons.

To see.

Had glasses growing up for almost a decade and now have been wearing contacts for almost a decade. Taking them out/putting them in just takes getting used to. Wearing acuvue oasys contacts now, I know they are there but no stinging or irritating unless I wear them too long at once. Cant stand the pressure of glasses on my nose or not being able to see when I wake up but am checking out LASIK now. Both are annoying in different ways, but that's part of having crappy eyesight.

I've been using gas permeable lenses for over 20 years (since I was 11) and never had any problems
They are a massive pain in the arse until you get used to them. If your eye sight is terrible go for lenses so you can keep your peripheral vision
