....there was a strange, loud, lawn-mower-ish noise buzzing around the neighborhood where SeñoritaMafioso was trying to sleep. It was barely 11pm, so she didn't think anyone would be mowing their lawn (although it was an old person neighborhood, so you never know 😉), but she couldn't think of anything else the sound could be.

Just as she was about to get up to investigate, the bothersome sound faded out of earshot. With a contented smile, SeñoritaMafioso snuggled back into her warm, cozy bed, and closed her eyes to fall asleep.

But alas! it was not meant to be, for it seemed like only seconds later the accursed noise returned! SeñoritaMafioso groaned. What the crap was that untolerable sound? She regretfully climbed out of bed to approach the window, only stubbing her toes or tripping over herself a few times in the process.

She sat before the window, waiting for the obnoxious droning to return. Several times it faded in and out, seeming as though right outside the door at some moments, and like it had completely stopped at others. It was driving her nuts.

Finally, the annoyance quieted and did not return; the noise had stopped! SeñoritaMafioso breathed a great sigh of relief before standing up to return to her very appealing bed.

Before she had taken a single step, she heard another sound—this time from inside the house. It was a little sound, and coming from the fridge, so she assumed the ridiculous contraption was just making ice, as the ice-making fridges tend to do.

As she began to lie down once again, SeñoritaMafioso could swear she heard the faint buzzing of the lawn-mower thing yet again, but it was silent too quickly for her to be sure. Suddenly, a muted clattering erupted from the kitchen—the abhorrent refrigerator had dropped its ice into the ice tray. (You all know the noise I'm talking about...)

Just when she thought it was safe to sleep again, the mowing noise returned. SeñoritaMafioso glared at the window, but this time it didn't get as loud as it had before. As soon as it had faded yet again, somebody's cell phone went off inside the house. She fought the urge to facepalm.

And so it went on; the buzzing drone of a possible old person mowing their lawn in the wee hours of the night, alternating with the occasion cell phone chirp pointlessly reminding another slumbering person that they have hipster friends that like to stay up late.

It was definitely NOT bees, it really did sound like someone was driving/pushing a lawn mower around the neighborhood.
