So I setup an IRC server for everyone to use.
It's complete with services (nickserv/chanserv/botserv/etc) and is just for us!

So here's the server:
turfwarsirc.mccreations.us (standard ports)

Right now I have it on a subdomain from one of my websites, but eventually if a lot of people start using this I will buy a separate domain.

If you have no clue what IRC is it is a chat protocol. If you don't know how to access it, just google IRC client with your system type and you will find many programs that you can use.
If you're on windows I recommend you use mIRC. I don't run Mac so I wouldn't know any off of the top of my head but I know there's many.

The only way this will be useful is if a lot of people join, so come chat with your fellow turf warriors!

Yep. And about what you asked, you can't see previous history. The idea is that you'd have a client running on your computer of something even when you're not there so all the history would be there. But you can get a private message type thing like palringo. You just need to register with nickserv first. You type your email and make a password and it reserves your name so no one can take. Then you can use /memoserv name message to send people messages that they will get once they sign in.
besides that you can still do private messages if both people are currently online without registering with nickserv.

C'mon people let's get this going! You can even make your own private room for your group to use.

Oh and to register your name you type: /nickserv register youremail yourpassword
