So today I'm supposed to go the Bahamas for a relaxing spring break, but now that Air Canada employees decided to go on strike I'm stuck sitting in the Toronto Airport. 😔
-
I would be PO'd and I would demand a refund with compensation 👊🔨

Companies should be able to replace employees when they go on strike

Wow. Just googled this. Canada sucks in this one. Trying to pursue criminal action against people for striking to protect their freedom of speach. Go USA.

Ya employees should be able to go to school to become a nurse knowing what a nurse makes then as soon as they get hired should be able to go on strike because they want 10k a yr raise♛Çąŋժूƴɱąŋ♛ wrote:

Or the post office here went on strike because they wanted a company car to make their runs yet they wanted to keep the car allowance they get every month
-
C'mon candy, strikes are a good thing. You really think corporations would treat people fairly if the people had no way to stand up for themselves? But they really should have waited till after spring break, and announced the strike so travelers could have planed around it.
-
But hey belial imagine u ran ur own company hired someone to work for u for say 40k a year then 2 months in he demands a raise and u have no choice because u can't replace him because he calls it a strike

This isn't even about wages. Employees were treated unfairly due to a political opinionDRAMABOT 5000 wrote:

It doesn't work that way candyman. Do research before you start spouting crap. And most strikes happen due to unfair conditions. Not to get 10k more a year. But hey belial imagine u ran ur own company hired someone to work for u for say 40k a year then 2 months in he demands a raise and u have no choice because u can't replace him because he calls it a strike

See candyman. Unlike you I do research on what's actually happening. This strike was caused because 3 employees were "clapping ironically" at a labour minister speech. To me this is a fairness issue and a freedom of speak issue and speaks rather poorly for a country that claims to be one of the most progressive
-
3 employees were suspended for clapping ^

That it what you get when you run a welfare country.
Give me, give me, give me!
No?
STRIKE!!!

They had a strike planned for last week but it was shut down before it started. That's why the 3 employees gave ms. Raitt a slow clap. Then the 3 employees got a 72 hour suspension.
This might have to do with freedom of speech but at the same time, when working for a company you don't do shit that reflects badly on the company. When on the job you are an ambassador for that company.
Besides that air canada is a shit airline. I've never flown with them without something going wrong. Like overbooking their flights so you show up and they tell you that you might not be getting on the plane. Or lost bags. Or they decide to put you on the plane and send your bags hours later on another plane then tell you they won't deliver them to you, you have to wait at the airport. They charge more for flights then other airlines yet their employees are rude and the service unreliable. They fucking suck.
On another note my girlfriends dad was laid off yesterday by aircanada after 18 years with them. -

What am I supposed to listen to? Main stream, government owned media? Puke. I look for truth, not propaganda. Candy's quote I used goes to show how greedy employees are. Give me car, give me gas, give me allowance too. Government employees rape the system that average people pay into. They want to suck for the government teat for life. Grow up. Look at Greece, people. More people worked for the government than people paying into the system. CRASH.

Coal miners have gone on strike several times and most of the time it wasn't about money.

Coal miners have real reasons to strike.
