How did I miss this earlier. Yeah lol I know that story. My grandfather told me about it. I don't know if you've seen Tenacious Ds "The pick of destiny" but they tie the premise of that movie to that story.

Theres a movie called crossroads by the guy that played karate kid based on that premise if I'm not mistaken.

Yep. I'm pretty sure Tenacious D basically copied a bit from crossroads actually. The end of crossroads has a guitar duel with the devil, played by Steve Vai. Pick of destiny has a guitar duel with the devil, played by Dave Grohl. Pick of destiny is just a bit more of a satire.

I'm an enormous Frank Zappa fan, and a fan of every musician that ever played with him- too many to list. Along the lines of great obscure guitar players, I'd like to call out Drew Zing. I saw Drew with Steely Dan in 1993, and he blew my mind. I haven't heard much from him since, but if you ever hear he is playing near you then definitely go check him out.
