I do not understand why it is such a big deal or why people get soo angry when you spell things wrong when there are bigger and more serious things to be mad about
could somebody please clarify
-
Because it murders the English language, wouldn't you get mad if you created something and someone messed it up
-
Dude, learn how to punctuate!
You forgot the periods in your sentences.
-
You forgot to use punctuation.

Really? A thread about spelling! Woteva nekst!
-
Well, it's not so much misspelling a word or a missing a comma. That's simple human error, sometimes typing on an iPhone is the cause. It's more so when someone comes out with some magical, profound, hateful, or sarcastic thing to say n the spll it like dis. Or completely misspell and important word with complete disreguard for how stupid it makes them look, especially without even a notation. It's not that bad if you say "hey idk how to spell this, aka (sp?)". Anyways.
But the rest of the time it's just fuel for haters.

Illiteracy is nothing to be proud of.

Incorrect spelling makes you sound like an uneducated assclown. There's a huge difference between a common typo and flagrant disregard for spelling. The worst offenders are the kids of the text generation who don't even spell words out anymore.
Their, there, and they're are 3 different things. Here and hear are also very different. There are plenty more examples...
You don't need a PHD in English to be capable of spelling common words correctly.
-
Also, it's easier to read a message like this if it was spelled correctly:
Tere is dis guy ho is anoyying mi amd caping mi trurfs. Pleeze hep!Yup. And also if you are debating something it pays to your credibility if you use correct spelling and grammer. And then there are people like Mystery, who just hate every botching of the English language, like caping.
-
Incorrect grammar, spelling, and punctuation hurt my mind. If it's a typo, it's no big deal. But when it's obviously just someone who doesn't know or doesn't care, it is insulting. I know there are teens that play this game, but a six year old just won a national spelling bee. You should be embarrassed if you don't know. You should be kicked in the head if you don't care.

Good spelling is a matter of pride. If you want to wear your ignorance on the outside for everyone to see, then by all means don't bother spelling correctly. But by writing unreadable crap that isn't spelled correctly, you show the world that you have limited ambition, and possibly limited intelligence.

Also I hate it when people don't put two spaces after a sentence in a paper or report. Sometimes I would mix the two sentences together and feel stupid. >.<

At least it separates the kids from the adults.

You know what else grinds my gears? The bulk of people on this forum use I-devices. I know some are on the web, but for the most part we are on iPhones and iPads. iOS has a good (not great) real-time spell checker. If you at least get close to the proper spelling it will correct your spelling to the point that I have a hard time when I want to intentionally misspell a word.
Your move bad spellers....

I am fine with people correcting others, but when the start calling others dumb/stupid it is not verry helpful. Also I have disgraphia and get made fun of in real life for it and don't want to get made fun of for it in a game with people I don't know.
-
Unfortunately, there's no way around that. In this game (and most public games on the Internet), thoughts and words are communicated through text. There is no way for us to know that any single person has a diagnosed condition that causes it.

And to be honest, I mange pretty well. I do get the odd word wrong. But I merely avoid words I can't spell. It's not hard. -
