My computer is running slow and somebody on a site called "Omegle" told me that If I deleted my "System32" folder that my PC would be faster than it ever was.
He disconnected so I don't know where that folder is, could someone tell me and if so do I delete the whole folder or just some files?
thanks

Google has a lot better answers more detailed and faster. Jussayin.

Alright I'll help you out here- you just found yourself a troll. Deleting said file will completely wipe your hard drive. Basically, you will lose everything on your computer if you follow his advice.

I just dealt with this on my computer last week. I googled computer slowness problems and then followed the steps that was designed for windows vista since that's what I have. Worked great and been running much smoother so that's my advice as well... Google!

Telling someone to delete System32 is like telling someone to press Alt+F4 during a game. It's a mean-spirited trick. Deleting it would require you to perform a Windows/PC recovery.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Windows put that folder onto your computer to keep the computer slower than it could be. It's so you will pay for anti virus software, new updates, better hardware, etc. Trust me, deleting this folder made my windows computer at least 2 times faster.Alright I'll help you out here- you just found yourself a troll. Dont listen to people on fucking omegle! Are you that dumb? Go do some research and find out what it does. Never listen to random people especially on the internet

Throw it in a lake.

Yeah I've got a feeling hes trolling, too. And I never said it would destroy the HDD, just wipe it. I believe you can reinstall windows afterwards. And yes, you can delete said folder just like that.Blackhorse71 wrote:
Somehow I get the feeling that he's not serious. Besides, I'm not sure you can delete that folder from within the OS, but if you could, it would only destroy the OS, not the hard drive.Alright I'll help you out here- you just found yourself a troll. Don't do it!!

Deleting the 32 folder would effectively mess you up badly. That's what you get for getting advice on Omegle. Friends don't let friends use Vista. Too many reasons your comp could be slow starting from viruses to too little RAM to your hard drive being too packed. You can't be diagnosed by simply disclosing the malady. Good luck and backup important data.

The best performance increase I ever got was deleting that folder and buying Apple.
Of course, that was Vista....

Win32
Any files that end in 32 are very bad to mess with.
Don't do it, you'll need a new operating system if you do. -

I sometimes end the processes on some files when my pc laggs. Im not certain u can delete that file, unless you're in administrator. But yes some files are better gone, and are there to keep processor life above 5 years... GL

Try picking up a piece of freeware called ccleaner (crap cleaner) and run the normal cleaning options as well as the registry checker from within it. I try to do this at least once a week. Also, try a defrag from your system tools.

All that free cleaner is malware or spyware, you can easily defragment the drives yourself... And every computer has the format for it to almost do it itself. Seriously though: Bruener is right. Never fiddle with system files unless you know what you're doing: you could do some major damage. Software-wise, that is. You're unlikely to hurt your hardware, but hardware is 110% useless without software. -

I don't use the system defrag, I use a shareware defragmenter that I got off my uncle some time ago. I don't remember what it's called, but it does a brilliant job ...BorderFox~>java wrote:

On that note, my external hdd shat itself the other day, and I hadn't backed up my program files or my ~600Gb of movies ... I'm rather sad (aka almost suicidal) as a result.P.S. Don't complain about my suicide comment. I've had people try it, including one of my ex's - while we were together. So stfu before you start. ✌
