Not extreme but yes somewhat. The only real thing that I see as a decent possibility is the destruction of our power grid. By either hacking by a foreign government or even worse from solar flares.

I don't prep for anything specific. I just prep so I know I can always take care of my family no matter what comes up.

They are right now... But you never know! A lot of plausible scenarios can create these beasts.

I an. In fact today me and my friend where mixing up stuff to make brickets. Then we went to his tree house to see where to store extra water and supplise. Next we went into the woods behind his house to look for a good spot for an extra bugout location

Yes you are correct,(scenario) give a bunch of kids iPods and watch the power, they loose sleep and turn into little miniature zombies, watch out if they ever unite together,😱run for the hills😱

They may be fictional, but the prep for a Z apocalypse is pretty transferable to many real scenarios. And is more enjoyable to think about than a mutated flu pandemic for instance.
I have a partial bug out bag and a few plans as to where to head to (discussed with close friends) I also always have a multi tool, mini book on food foraging and way of making fire in my day bag most of the time as an absolute basic 'in case'.
A notable part of my book collection is prepper related.
