KONY 2012

30 minutes of my life I'm not getting back. This sounds like a Ugandan problem? Why should US troops be put at risk for their issues? And "he doesn't fight for any side. Hes just fighting to maintain his power"? I call Bull shit. That's what war is? He's fighting for a side. He's fighting for HIS side. He's fighting to keep his control at all costs. 30,000 kids? They grow up sometime. If it was really that bad they would fight back and get rid of him. All I ever hear is "The US should mind its own business. They shouldn't have gotten involved in Korea or Vietnam. It wasn't their problem." and now they want us to go looking for trouble? He has an army of kids any solider that goes up against him will have to kill said kids. They will come home as "baby-killers" and "murderers" again. If we did go in, in twenty years it will be called a "mistake. The US should've minded their own business. We only went in there because there's oil in Uganda. Blah. Blah. Blah"

Its been going on for 26 years. I've know about this and Sudan before its was "cool" to support it. Shut your ignorant mouth and go away. The government refused to do something about this for a reason. Why? Because its not important enough for us to get involved. We should worry about our own problems (ie recession and getting ourselves out of the mid east) before we go after some back water third world country's dictator.

Hmm.. Kill my own parents or be killed? Sounds like a personal choice. Again? Why should the US get involved? Other than "the US is the policing force of the world" I have yet to see a good argument. We havnt intervened in Sudan? And that's worse that this. It's not a US problem. Why should the US get involved?Billy Da' Kid wrote:

I created this thread already, and I was the first one to do it. You and another guy created a rerun topic thread.
Anyways, this is horrible but great that word has been getting out.

Ryan. You are proposing that the US government get involved in a war (that it doesn't have the money to pay.) in a third world country (that couldn't ever pay them back) with a dictator (that isn't a threat to our country) based upon the idea of human nature? Yes it is human nature to protect OUR I do not have a child in Uganda. Ugandans do. I am protecting my young by not letting my government get in over it's head and going under cause lack of funds. Is it not human nature to be dominant and protect ones own? Is kony not following his own human nature? Your argument works both way. Therefore not a good argument.

@👾👾 We're you this belligerent about the issue before the video came out? No. Once it went worldwide you suddenly jumped on board because everyone else cared about it so why shouldn't you. I watched the video because I thought it would be a well thought out plan for our government to follow to get rid of kony. Not a film that bought on the softened heart of ignorant common people and use their sympathies to practically threaten our government. We elected them so they must know what they are doing. If they didn't think intervening then they had their reasons. Don't get me wrong what he's doing is absolutely horrific and should be stopped. But why should the US do it? If they were to intervene here they would be expected to every time something like this happens. (and look at history. This happens in Africa often. Be it genocide, slaves, blood diamonds, or child soilders) and the US knows it is not capable of intervening all the time.

Fuck the kids that are being forced to kill and are being raped.
I mean who cares right? Their not American? Just let them die, be raped and not be given the chance for a proper life. Who gives a fuck eh? We'll only care about ourselves. -
Exactly! Why is it our problem. You want us to dig ourselves a deeper hole in uganda when we are already stuck in one in the mid east? We do not have the man power or the funds. The world gets themselves all fucked up then come crying to the US to fix it? The US has allies. Uganda can make allies. There are a ton of other African countries and the video even said he's not soley in Uganda. If the African nations effected would team up they could get rid of him without US involvement.
-
You guys are missing the point. No one wants American soldiers to find Kony, they want American soldiers to TRAIN Ugandan soldiers.

And I care? If I lose your respect for my views then I didnt want your respect in the first place. When this guy comes up with a decent plan of action then by all means it sounds good. But what makes you so sure this won't turn into another Kosovo where intervention led to even further human rights atrocities? We didn't help in Rwanda where millions were killed why should we step in here? Ever heard the saying "the cobbler's kids dont have any shoes"? You fail to see that if the US was to intervene and defend in every situation as they have in panama, Haiti, Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. Eventually we won't be able to defend ourselves. Then when kids are starving and dying on our front porch we won't be able to do anything about it.
-
The Ugandan president even said he didn't want foreign troops that he just needed aid. That he is fully capable of fighting his own wars. The man who made the video is an American sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. This a political matter for politicians we elected.

Not this self richioues bs again fact of the matter is Africa has nothing to offer the US which is why nothing has been done, let's say this campaign works it won't be long before people for get or stop caring just another bandwagon that will be gone as fast as it came, besides how is a country with its own problems suppose to fix another's countries problems it's the blind leading the blind

The president of Uganda said that they will be in the crossfire. If they are hurt or killed its a declaration of war and it's Vietnam all over again. The LRA is down to (approximately) 600-400. People. We have been giving them "aid" including 4 drones since 2008. If they can't get him he must not be that big of a problem. The video says he has an army of 30,000... No. It's barely 1,000 now. His "violence" has waned since we started helping and it was being resolved without American boots on the ground. Don't believe me? There's several articles all over the internet. Read this one.

I heard he had up to 3,000 in his army.

Are you fucking kidding me? "Oh, if he can't be cought, he doesn't matter, right?" That's fucking stupid. Imagine if we took that stance on Hitler or Bin Laden! And the. Idea doesn't say he has an army of 30,000 dumbfuck. It says he has abducted over 30,0000 kids. That's a huge difference.

The video states he has "abducted" 30,000 kids and is still abducting kids and making him kill their parents. Abductions have SLACKED OFF in the last few years and why are you worried about kony? When the government you are trying to assist isn't much better? The governments "president" has killed 10s of thousands of people. You want to help them? Does the video say anything about this? No. You see kids in trouble and instantly want to "help" out without first looking who you are really helping. Abductions, torture, murder, and human rights violations are the things you are upset about. The Ugandan has done the same thing. In this regime and the last.
