Ok, so I'm writing a short film and as a guy, I'm having trouble with one thing: Why would a woman say no to a marriage proposal? If you have dated a guy long enough that that is where the relationship is heading, why would you pull the plug?
Has anyone had this experience? Or have any insight?

#1 reason is guy asks girl and they have never even discussed marriage so he really has no idea were she stands on the issue.. He thinks because things are going ok for awhile she will automatically say yes but WRONG!

people stay together for all sorts of reasons. i imagine a woman would turn down a proposal for the same reasons guys stay with women they have no intention of marrying: Mr Right-For-Now isn't necessarily Mr Right-Forever. He may be fun & all, but she has no intention of him being the father of her children, or, she's only with him to piss off her parents, or "bigger issues" may be ok for dating but preclude marriage in her mind (religion, race, job status) etc
