I may be the only one that does this but when i'm eating something, I can "Taste the smell" of something. Whenever I eat a granola bar, I can taste the smell of birdseed.. Is anyone else able to do this..?

It's our sixth sense, "Knowing the unknown"

Kind of, your sense of smell and taste are both under the olfactory system (if that is the right system) so that might be common
-
It's wierd though..

Kind of like u can tell when someone's behind you or looking at you. There's no proof to prove it's a sense but its definantly there

So when you take a dump, can you smell if there's corn chunks in it?
-
Bananas taste just like they smell.

My 6th sense is my sense of style.

Actually taste and smell are very closely related. If you hold your nose when you eat or drink, it dulls the taste down.
-
If you can't smell then you can't taste. So it makes perfect sense that you are tasting the smell.

You actually have taste buds in your nose so u r probably a ok ........ Probably

I read once that if you lose your sense of smell, food will be tasteless.
Taste and smell are so closely related. Maybe wiki explains the why.

I found this from google but not from any reputable source, so I'm not sure it's accurate at all:
"Taste buds, located on the back of the tongue, can answer only four tastes: salty, sweet, bitter and sour ... To discriminate the infinity of flavors that we know is that the olfactory organ takes over. The nasal cavity opens into the pharynx behind the uvula. The particles can be transported by air to the organ of odor perception in this way, or through the nostrils when directment brings food to his mouth. Boucher nostrils compromises the flow of air through this path and thus prevents the distinction of flavors other than the four basic tastes."

I watched a video where people had their noses plugged and were wearing blindfolds. They were then asked to take bites out of apples and onions. They could not tase a difference between the two.

I think it's just because the airway of the nose causes the air we breath to run over our back taste buds.Spiider wrote:
