We need it 2 make this more interesting again now we just have ppl talking alot of shit from a safe distance I wonder if they still do after the plane ticket

A great way to destroy this game.

I dont see how it's much different than turf hopping. With the exception of going overseas.
And what's to stop someone from flying in real life? If I pull my trip off in August, I'll be in LA, Vegas, Phoenix, St Louis and Pittsburgh. That will provide me endless turf hop possibilities.
-
I would only be in favor of it if real world airports were utilized somehow...
-
Alot of the greats have been quitting and resetting. This is bad for the game. A plane ticket could rekindle their interest and keep this from happening
-
And I believe Nick said the loot items were going to be very rare, so I doubt you'll see many players jet-setting around the globe.
-
The average life expactancy for a player is 6 months. Plane ticket would be about the only loot item that could increase interest and prolong the play time of players
-
If it's so rare then people will still be bored.
You're not thinking grand enough. You're trying to put a bandaid on your boredom.

You're inability to think of a better solution does not preclude a better solution.
But, it sounds like you're already admitting that your solution would only extend your interest by a little before boredom rings in again. And then what, more travel. There's no turning back. Going this route erodes the value of having GPS in this game.
How about when you reset you can start wherever you want if you want a challenge...

I could never reset tho. Too much hard work. Also mob members that are impossible to get back. To say I should reset to get a challenge is insanity. What kind of game makes you start over for it to be fun again?Belial wrote: it's the only way I see tho. How else am I going to get a challenge again? Sounds like you could solve your problem by going on vacation...

if you mean from the game can't happen. I would lose my standing. If you mean in real life once again I'm a touch user. Going to other places does me no good. The gps really only comes to play for phone usersSounds like you could solve your problem by going on vacation...

Plane tickets are agood thing, if allowed in moderation. Like 1 use a month or something.

and I do have another solution. Look at arena style combat in suggestions. It is a plane ticket that only goes to one place. There everyone can fight it out. But it's unrealistic in a mob setting.Belial wrote: it's the only way I see tho. How else am I going to get a challenge again? I prefer a one time only type of deal.

Get bored. Hence what I keep saying. This isn't a solution to anything. You're just bored in a different place.

then you move on. Find new challenges. Maybe go to hk or uk. The point is it's still better than being landlocked like we are nowBelial wrote:

And I believe you should have to have your device AT the airport you are departing from. For the ipod users, there are plenty of options available for wifi. It may cost two or three bucks, but what's that compared to all the money already invested?
That way it keeps the GPS factor involved.

some players live huge distances from airports tho. This wouldn't be fair to them. Piss and moan?

Belial, all your points are proving my point.
If the game is compelling where you are, it's not going to be compelling long wherever you go.
Nick needs to focus on making the game compelling where you are and not focusing on removing unique aspects from his game (think ForSquare type quests).
You don't innovate by removing the unique features of your game. Especially when the competition is already heating up.
-
By making gps less of a factor you are creating ballance for the touch users. They don't get to enjoy the gps anyway
-
And with water hopping gone plane tickets would bring balance back to the game
-

There are enough wifi hotspots in the world to move around.
Like I said, this game should focus on making real life slightly more entertaining. If you don't travel, then Nick needs to incorporate some more data other than Google to make the trip to the grocery store more fun. (You can check out: http://gos2.geodata.gov for tons of free GIS data).
Anyway, the plane ticket suffers from a fatal flaw to which no counter has been presented. Wherever you go will eventually become boring.
-
There aren't as many hotspots as you think. Many places don't have any. My area has very few. I've had to adapt.
