I love watching movies that make expand how I see things and make me think twice. Post your favorite movie that really influenced you and WHY. I'm always looking for new movies to watch.
My favorites:+American Beauty - Really blew my mind, the plot twist at the end was awesome!
+Crash - Great movie that has an underlining theme addressing racism, really moved me.
+Se7en - Excellent movie that does a great job of showing the underside of humanity. (if that makes sense..)
+Princes Mononoke - Great animated movie, makes you think about the environment without sounding preachy
+Goodwill Hunting - My favorite movie of all time! Some of the dialog changed my whole perspective on human relationships. WATCH IT!Add yours! (please add a short description too)

Donnie Darko- the plot is crazy as hell but it's an excellent movie

8 1/2 is a really excellent movie. One of the best ever made.

Inception blew my mind away.
Along with Suckerpunch, it made no sense...
American History X made me start thinking about Neo-Nazism...
That's my thinking movies. -

Donnie darko because of tw psychological.
Double because of kickass storyline and play twists. -
The boy in the striped pajamas. Try that one on for a surprise ending. It also is good at telling the story from the nazi point of view. Not many films do that.

+The Departed - Makes you think about morality, excellent acting.
+Fear and Loathing Las Vegas - A pretty good depiction inside the world of drugs.
+Trainspotting - drugs and futility to say the least. Great book too.
+Into The Wild - Really inspiring movie about human achievement in a way. -

Great question- I'm not gonna list all the reasons for my list- but I will say, most of em' are mandatory for any film student.

Mommy Dearest (Biographical, Joan Crawford) -
Donnie Darko - another shout out. Watched it many times.
Bladerunner - asks important questions about what it means to be human.
Primer - a great little obscure indy flick I can't even begin to describe. Smart and mind blowing. Great dialogue. A must if you think physics is groovy.
