i have to write a persuasive english paper and i was just wondering what the community thought

Personally Mac. You pay a premium, but all the parts are designed to work together, whereas PC you have a OS from one company and a harddrive from another. So more likely chance of failure.

Either.
The real question is:

You can't come up with a better topic for a persuasive essay?
I'm a former pc user who refuses to own anything with windows. I hate fighting with computers, when i want my computer to work, I just want it to work.

PC, you can custom build a PC. You can install Linux, Ubuntu and other OS on it. You can upgrade the hardware compontents easily. Macs are redicuiosly overpriced for what you get on certain models. *cough MacBook Air *cough* xD

Apple

I go Mac, but I completely agree with the MacBook air statement. i do video and audio editing, plus some graphic design. Mac only except when I need to author in PC environment. Then I use bootcamp on a mac.

oh, my first mac was an apple II, it's sitting on my desk with a beta swimming around in it.

Mac, I used to love pc's but ya get what ya pay for, my pc's would crash, be slow, and have all sorts of virus' after a year. I got tired of buying a new one every year, I've had a Mac for 3 years now wouldn't want anything else.

I own both a mbp and a self built desktop and an asus g series laptop. Asus is great for on the go gaming. Desktop for the wife and kids. Mac kind of just sits there... Collecting dust. No offense, but you need some very good reasons to want to dump a bunch of money on a custom Mac. Otherwise it's money that can be spent on a cheaper Mac, and buy the most powerful pc laptop in the store to have legit access to both. And as far as I am concerned, no integrated bd rom is a killer for me in terms of buying a new mbp. I'd rather have that available along with my hi def screen. Btw, a person who really knows how to build and care for a pc normally has no issues with it. My desktop is going on 6 years with a c2q and 8 gb of ram. It has performed flawlessly for me for a long time and I have no reason why I would want an upgrade. With Mac, it seems to one note for me. Cool interface and all, and I have an iPad, but a full on Mac still doesn't appeal to me.

Are we helping so far? 😄 I think the bottom line comes down to use. If you're into multimedia, ie. video editing, music making, etc., Mac is considered a better choice. However, if it's for business applications, PC is better due to software selection. I really think it's just a matter of personal choice and use.

PC user here. Macs are more for people who are not as familiar with technology, as the OS is easier to use. PC is a little more advanced, giving more freedom to it's users (and subsequently, more room for inexperienced users to error).

I want a Mac with windows 7. It vice-versa.

PC is for people who know how to tinker with a computer, which means a higher chance for messing up. More chance for high performance too.
I have a rule.
Macs for laptops. They are sleek and run smoothly. OC laptops are loud, extra hot, and break a lot easier than a nice MacBook pro.Pc desktop.the desktop Mac is nice and easier to use, but I can have more fun with a windows and it's cheaper (easier to upgrade as well). if you know how to use a computer, than the PC should run way faster for way cheaper than a Mac.

Mac and shies cuz I don't attack people a lot so ehh who cares

I make my living with PCs, but I use a little of everything. I have computers at home that run Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2003, Ubuntu, and Suse. I also have a few Macs. Every system has something it does better than the others, so it all comes down to what your needs are.

"a person who really knows how to build and care for a pc normally"
👆Whatever the heck you do, if they don't meet this criteria, never, ever buy them an HP laptop. Or any PC for that matter. Repairing it for them will make your eyes bleed. Get them an iPad and an iPhone and thank your lucky stars for apple support or $6 dollar repair kits. Whichever. Probably both. Go Mac.

I think that's the key. I'm not an IT guy that knows, or cares to know, how computers work. I don't want to have to care for my computer. I'll do the updates when it tells me to, time machine does automatic backups, and that's it.
I see it as another appliance in my house. I don't want to have to maintain my dish washer, I want it to work perfectly every time unless something mechanical breaks. Same goes for my microwave, hot water heater, wireless router, and yes, my computer.

You can build a top end computer for $600 or buy a slightly less powerful iMac for $1199

I went with the shoes!
