sleeping with your contacts in.
Forums › General Discussion › sleeping with your contacts in.-
I get lazy. I forget. sometimes I like waking up and being a "sighted" person, before I stumble to the bathroom. floppy lightweight lenses like the acuvue oaysis astigmatisms (even though they feel grimy, almost gummy faster) have made long wearing more tolerable.
I started wearing contacts in 3rd grade to slow my raging myopia. so young to learn to be responsible. I made bad habits. I must not be the only one guilty of this.
-
I slept with some red haloween contacts in and the room got well smoky when I woke up ! Then there was lots of fog outside too the start of blindness !!!
-
I've always felt very fortunate to be blessed with good vision. But my too ayes both wear contacts, and have a bad habit of leaving them in. One of them wore his for 3 weeks before taking them out.
-
I've wondered why they don't get stuck way back in the socket when sleeping.
I kind of have a weird irrational fear of this.
The thing i fear even more though, is that concentrated puff of air the eye doc shoots at my eyeball. HATE it.
-
I sleep with mine in. Never have problems. Ciba vision air optix night & day. Try them out. 2 boxes of 6 cost me $133.

I'm in the same boat. Been wearing my contacts since 4th grade to help keep my eyes from getting worse. I sleep with them in All the time. But be careful because apparent it can cause eye ulcers "from lack of Oxygen" or something like that.
-
I used to do that all the time, the veins in the eye start to bulge and grow looking for oxygen, giving you a permanent blood shot eye look, it took a year for my eyes to rid that, also I have permanent scarring in my eyes from it. After a day and a half of continued wear the eye starts to repair itsel by growing over the contact lense, which is why they get gummy, harder to take out, and sight is foggy My eye doc is against the 30 day continuous wear ones for this reason. It's your eye sight, you don't want to lose it the Braille version of turf wars isn't out yet.

Guilty about once or twice a month. I don't usually go to bed wearing them, but my narcolepsy kicks in and I fall asleep on my couch watching tv. That's why I try wearing glasses at night just in case I pass out.
-
I quite literally keep my disposable lenses in for weeks at a time without removing them. Sound crazy? Yeah!
I change them when they tear (due to rubbibg eyes etc) or fall out.
I've been doing this for about 10 years now and even told my optician, who obviously slapped my wrist but could tell of no damage to my eyes.
-
I am really bad, I can go months without taking them out. Never usually have a problem with irritation. But trying to correct my bad habit cuz I know its not good.

Omg I just went and had an eye exam yesterday. And when she said it was time for the puff of air she knew right off by the look on my face. Not a fan of it at all. And I can't leave mine on. They feel so dry and it's almost impossible to take them out once I sleep with them.

Wore contacts for over 30 yrs, now I have permanent dry eye and had to switch to glasses. And that was from daily wear only, no overnight.

I wear contact lenses too, the 30 day ones so I can sleep in them. I only take them out one night a week.
I did get an eyelash behind one of them a couple weeks ago and woke up and it felt like someone stabbed me in the eye, went to doctors and had to have local anesthetic and some dye put in so they could see if I'd scratched my cornea. Turns out I only grazed it and it hurt like a motherf*cker for days.
Should be more careful, after all it's only your eye 😲
-
I'm horrible about taking my contacts out😖 I usually go 3 or 4 months before I take em out and swap em for a new pair. My eye doctor says he can't tell I do that by examining them so screw it. Will be a month with the ones I have in atm on the 26th. We will see how long they last me before the start bothering me.
