I'm off to New York in 2 weeks.

If you are not planning on coming back frequently, I would say, totally engulf yourself with the city... Central park, the time Warner building, Chelsea piers, time square during the evening on a weekend, go see a show, meat packing district is what's hot now for night life... Also on the driving comment, I am a driver, and so is my wife, city driving is parking lots and around 40+ every time you pull in for more then an hour or 2. Borough driving is much easier parking wise. Any questions, just ask.... I will answer what I can...

Depends on what your looking for. Beaches & shore you can go north to Rhode Island & Mass or South to New Jersey shores.Sabasaul wrote:
I like the sound of that. I like seeing things outside of the city picture. Can u give more info on what's to see? There's a lot to see outside the city also. An hour two north or south gets you oceans, mountains, country, other good sized cities, gambling, entertainment, etc. Just in case you want to get out of the city for a while.
Mountains in Pennsylvania, Mass & New Hampshire.
Country in all directions outside of NY.
Biggish cities in Hartford, CT & Boston MA. -

If you like casinos, take the Amtrak from Penn Station to New London, CT. Its about 2 and a half hour ride and about 50 -70 bucks depending on time. At the train station take the number 2 bus and it will drop you off at Mohegan Sun casino. Or you can go to foxwoods. Or take the Chinatown bus from, Chinatown, in flushings. It is about 10 dollars and goes straight to Mohegan sun. You can do a day trip cuz the return is eight hours later.
Skip the beaches and shore. It is wintertime.
So, I am in London for another week, any suggestions for me? -
Depends on what you've already done iceburg?
-
Go find Barney Stinson.... It will be legen...... Wait for it...... Dairy!

As slim said, Mohegan sun & Foxwoods in CT are both descent places to gamble. Both are Indian reservations but you'd never know it. Nothing rinky dink about them.
Theres always Atlantic City in NJ. Actually, you'd be able to see the shore & gamble at the same time. Far better choice of casino action also. -
For casinos I would recommend going to Atlantic city in jersey maybe hit the shore too. If you are in queens then I recommend Vetro's which is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been too an I will include that I am Italian and agree that that is very good. Also Ozone's pizzeria has the BEST Sicilian pizza and best NY style pizza and calzones. Also there is a place called Empire Buffet which is also good. In Brooklyn, Villa Bate is my favorite bakery in NYC
Some advice though, it's a bad idea to be driving around: traffic is crazy, parking is ridiculous to find, etc.
Also the small hole-in-the-wall places are usually the best.
If you go to queens I could give some other good places to go -

It is not too far but traffic on the bridge out of NYC would be ridiculous. I've been stuck on the bridge for hours at a time before plus Atlantic city is pretty crowded as wellSabasaul wrote:

NYC is a metropolis. Dont stare up at the buildings. Most people have someplace to go. If someone seems rude dont take it personal. Our beer is weaker than what you may be used to and the coffee is in a bigger container but is not as strong as the stuff over here. Food portions are bigger. It is pointless to carry a bill larger than a 20. No one has change.
I am over by Hyde Park. What is a good place for Tea Time or a steak. -

New York? Been once. You have to try 'MOB'. They had a 'BUILDER' in at the time doing some restoration though. Nice place! Used to be big but they have down sized recently Vadan. 😘

Joes pizza just off of bleaker, best regular slice on the run in NYCNew York style pizza. It's not as good as Chicago style, but you might as well try it. Also, check out the 9/11 memorial and the Statue of Liberty.
Lombardi's on spring street. Better sit down place
Sicilian pizza, or what we call "squares". L&B. in Brooklyn
Johns pizza on bleecker is over rated. There calzones are great though
Best old school Italian, il mulino
Best or what's hot now, Catch. Down in the meat packing district.
Steak, Peter lugers in Brooklyn, or mark Joseph's in manhattan

If you want to gamble you really should go to AC.
