Someone that has a good understanding of every aspect of game mechanics and how to utilise them with skill and strategy.

No. These are just the basic no reset stats. If they do reset they will be a noob in stats but not in personality or friendships. They wouldnt have to play a year. Free Mason started in September, 2011 and I would consider him a vet.

I have been up against so many with 3 times my mob, and they had no clue what to do, or how to play....

From my 2+ years, I would say I have a pretty good understanding of the game. Better than most people these days. I agree with vadan. It's not a physical thing or a milestone you pass, you have to kind of earn it.

I would have expected the term veteran would refer to time served not nesisarily your rank? So agree more with your second comment than your first.

Have you defended your country from another country or group trying to invade it? Have you gone and fought on foreign soil to retaliate against another country/group or defend its it's interest. THESE are what I call vets.
I don't care how big your "mob" is. I don't care how many "turfs" you own. I don't care how many "virtual circles" on your iPhone you've "captured". I don't care how long you've played this GAME for. You're not a vet.

A vet is someone who knows the ins and outs of the game. It's someone who's been there and back and most would feel comfortable taking game advice from. It's not something that can be expressed in level and mob.
