Silly debate

Cancer. There are so many kinds of it that you can actually debate whether you would fund one type or the other.

They have a cure for both, it's just a form of population control now.
This is just my opinion, don't shoot me for it. -
Cancer, as it can develop in anyone at anytime for any number of reasons.
Aids can largely be prevented........

It's a silly debate because we don't have to choose one or the other. It's silly because medical science doesn't work that way. He's creating a hypothetical situation to create false controversy. It isn't real. It's silly⌖🔥Belial🔥⌖ wrote:

HIV is a virus, viruses mutate, if HIV becomes airborne like influenza we are all screwed.

I agree here. With a certain level of responsibility and care it could be avoided. Sometimes it's random accident like a blood transfusion or dirty needle. But something as simple as protected sex with strangers could help prevent it. You're out at the bar and met a drunk chick who's dtf? You don't have a condom? Don't just say oh well. Go get the fucking condoms. (I have a friend who caught an std in this exact way, and that's exactly what I told him)Cancer, as it can develop in anyone at anytime for any number of reasons.

Not necessarily. All felines are born with a form of the HIV virus. They've just evolved an immunityHIV is a virus, viruses mutate, if HIV becomes airborne like influenza we are all screwed.

Then how do we not catch it from them? A simple scratch would be enough to transfer it wouldn't it?Ojibwe wrote:

Its believed that at one point this virus almost whiped out all felines before they evolved an immunity
-
Of course not necessarily. But viruses mutate and whether HIV or something else we will have pandemics. Understanding viruses including HIV is the only way to prevent them.

Our close proximity to cats is the perfect environment for cross species mutations.
-
I heard a few African prostitutes had been found to have developed a resistance, or immunity to HIV.

Cross species mutation happens all the time. That's how HIV developed in humans.

In order to have a proper debate, please tell us 'how'... At the minute, which of these currently has the most funding?
-

Actually monkeys. And there are other monkey species which are not affected by HIV. H1N1 was a swine virus. H5N1 is a bird virus. Ebola is another monkey virus that crossed to humans. Cross species mutation is one of the most dangerous aspects of viruses.Ojibwe wrote:

Cases of people who have had/have cancer Vs cases of people who have HIV or AIDS?
The majority of people know someone who has had or has cancer. How many people as a percentage do you know who have HIV or AIDS?
No life should have a value attached to it so in my opinion the amount of funding research gets per illness, should reflect the cases of each illness. Therefore, cancer will get more funding by a long shot but not in the sense it is more important.
Which form of cancer though? There are a ton of various cancers!
-
Aids probably. Cancer is very preventable and lately we have been slacking on aids and focusing on cancer.
