Ipad competition?

I love my iPhone...best muti
media phone going. I was reluctant of the ipad though for two reasons...lack of expandable memory and lack of USB port. I'm in the military and I leave for months. iPhones for music but ipad seemed perfect for movies while deployed. Thing is o burn through my movies and Itunes makes sharing movies with the guys almost impossible. I read up on the HP Slate and it looks like it may blow ipads out of the water. Keeping in mind all the apps I want or need are on my iphone

What do you guys think? Anyone else know of other competitors? They'll be all over by Xmas...

I'll look at the slate. Still the ipad is really only targeted to people wanted an iPod touch but had bad eyes and couldn't use it.

LoL. I'm thinking about an ipad. I mean for the amount I'm on my phone I might as well just use an ipad on he couch. Still on the fence though and I know apple will drop the price and add features soon anyway.

I just bought 1 10/10 runs brill, looks great, games are HD, got iworks and pages. Only let down like you said no USB but jus I jus connect to my MacBook It makes up for it. If you like gadgets get 1 well worth the money

I like gadgets but I don't like wasting money...I'll wait n see what the slate is all about...USB port expandable memory and the ability to drop files on it without iTunes....oh happy day

I realized after I posted that last post that it may have sounded like a dig to ipad users...I didn't mean ipad was a waste in general just a more compatible machine is what I need when I run out of movies at
sea and wanna grab one off my buddies laptop...that's why I want something
like this and as of right now when I burn through the 64 gigs of movies (easy to do with one month at sea let alone 6) then I'm stuck with nothing else

Hardly. Didn't want a iPod touch as I had my iPhone but love the iPad. Have hardly touched my MacBook since i got the iPad.
FYI the slate was set to run windows 7 but they just scrapped that and are redoing it to run the palm webos that HP owns now since the purchase of palm. Who knows when they will actually release it then.
