Try Erik B and Rakim. Public Enemy. Eazy E. NWA. Run DMC. LL Cool J. Beastie Boys. Third Base.
Those are old school. Unless you wanna go WAY back to Grandmaster Flash. Sugarhill Gang. Etc.

50 cent may not be old school, but everything now is for lack of better terms shit. (no offense to people who like new school) I was just saying what are your views of rap then and now

I grew up listening to Bone Thugs n Harmony, I mean I guess it's not THAT old school, yet I would still consider it music compared to Drake and Lil Wayne. But now I grind straight underground: Heiroglyphics, Souls of Mischief, Blu and Exile, etc. 🔫

How was eminem not mentioned in this thread?

I love my old school hiphop. I hate all this new shit, Wayne, drake etc. I grew up when real nuggas rapped about real things. Nowdays they all lollipop rappers, making music for radio. I bet when NWA released fuck the police it wasn't to get air time hahahha

Old school is Grand Master Flash and the furious five, cool herc, run dmc, big daddy cane, ll cool j, the fat boys, krs-one, beasty boys. Anything pre '92 is old school in my book.
Your list made me jump on and start downloading all kinds of old goodness. Thank you for the great reminders. -
