As some of you know I fly out to Lebanon today. I'm researching for a report about Syrian refugees. It's something that I've been a bit anxious about which might have shown in my posting. Have a good week TW!

Funnily enough we're actually staying right near the Swedish embassy in Beirut, but that's by far the best advice I've been given on here :)

Im only scheduled for field work for 3 of the days I'm there and apparently we can only be insured if we travel round with flack jackets... It's not even a warzone??

Study the street maps so you know alternate routes in case you need to get out of a jam.

Best of luck man. Stay in a group. Stay away from any american fast food chains. Dont try to buy any drugs. Do not send any tweets out other than real basic communication(no locations, no opinions). Be mindful of who you tell what you are there for. If you get kidnapped and they offer you alcohol do not drink it.

Be smart but don't be paranoid. Try to have a great time. lebanon is beautiful after all!

Stay safe and have a good time out there researching. I don't know if you're going for damascus (who'd want to at the moment??) but the casbah that snakes through the old part of the city is (was?) a good place to go......keep in touch with your embassy as to what's happening
