Like Win95 or earlier.
When I was about 5 or 6 I had this shitty computer that my parents got from a family friend.
On that computer there was a game that I played and I'm trying to find it now so if I give some clues, could you guys tell me what I might me refering to?
Here's what I remember:
1) It was around the year 1999 or 2000 when I played this game. But it was old so it was probably released earlier.
2) This game was a side scroller, platform game.
3) The first map (That's as far as I went, I was 5/6) was played with a sky background, with clouds as platforms.
4) I'm pretty sure it was choose X for a girl character and Z for a Dog (I'm not totally sure about this)
5) the graphic were pixilated and a demo of the game would play when you opened it.
6) It's probaby a built-in game because we didn't have internet back then.
If anything you guys could do to help me figure outwhat game it is will be very helpful. Thanks guys. I know it's a silly question.

Yeah, turns out my inquiry is SUPER general.

Before I answer, did you get any weapons as part of the game?... This sounds vaguely familiar

I think you get like power up that shoot from your body.

Ok. I don't want this to be associated with how long I've been using computers or anything, but I can think of about half a dozen games that you could be talking about. Here is a way to narrow it down and find the one you are looking for. My best guess: Xargon from 1993, but here are screenshots and the demo intro/video you can watch to see which one it is:
1) Xargon: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/xargon/
2) Bio Menace: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/bio-menace/
3) Boppin': http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/boppin/
4) Clyde's Adventure: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/clydes-adventure/
5) Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/cosmos-cosmic-adventure/
6) Hocus Pocus: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/hocus-pocus/Take a look at those and let us know if you find the game you're looking for.

That's amazing!
It's Cosmo's Cosmic adventure. It actually is. I never though I'd find. Thanks, nostalgia to the max.
