Tibetan sacrifice

Did anyone see some of the videos of the self sacrifice in protest against China? Very disturbing, a nun stood at the side of the road as a standing fireball... No cries, movement... Just standing... It's crazy.
To get to this point, msomething has to be wrong. China are supposedly cracking down hard and keeping it out of the media eye. There is an area the size of the UK cordoned off!
Any Chinese players have any news?

Self-immolation. Apparently there has been 11 nuns to protest but I think 6 have done it by fire.

It's such a sad thing ton resort to, but as a (I am assuming here so correct me if I am wrong) peaceful group, it must be all the Tibetans feel they can doSelf-immolation. Apparently there has been 11 nuns to protest but I think 6 have done it by fire.

According to various Buddhist teachings in the school of the Greater Vehicle (Mahayana), suicide can be commended under special conditions, for example if it is conducted “out of profound inner conviction” that no good can any longer be served by the retention of the physical body, or if it is in higher service to society. Indeed, it is explicitly in The Lotus Sutra (Fahua Jing) that “setting fire to the body” or “burning the fingers or toes” might be deemed a great offering to Buddha if the Three Jewels that guide Tibetan Buddhists (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha) have to be defended and honored.

Seriously though, thanks for the reply... I find it bizarre that a serious thread us has this one gets no response but a 'what's the best sport' thread gets many... I suppose it's the age range of people online at this time... Lol.

Yeah I just seen it on the news, unbelievable, the nun stood there with flames 10ft high and didn't move at all
-
Yeah we are definitely missing some emoji's or "the nuns just wasted some great vagina comments... "
-
Wow, I'm kinda speechless. And I can tell you the lack of responses are bc the children are too busy wanting dating advice and ps3 or Xbox debates...

This is more interesting than the Super Bowl and minecraft videos combined. Tragic, just tragic 🔥😞🔥

Tibet was much worst before China liberated them. In the past the Dalai lama ruled over a serf system in Tibet where people were essentially slaves. They also enforced cruel punishments such as the gouging out of eyes and such. When the communists overthrew the Tibetan overlords, the people of Tibet got more opportunities for education, a higher standard of living, and freedom from the brutality of the oligarchs.

Anyone from China on to comment yet?

That goes against what every human rights organization says.

I think the lack of respose can be attributed to lack of knowledge in the subject.
I for one know nothing other than what I've read here.
It's pretty extreme that a human being should be forced to such measures. It can be a very sad place this world of ours.
Very sad! 😒

Wow... I wonder if they liked it better before china came?

but like you have done, people can always say they aren't sure and ask the questions... Much like I am trying to do with the actual post!
It is frustrating as hell though when some of the shite gets a load of comments and yet a subject that should invoke interest and feelings gets not alot at all!
Oh well, I don't wana joint the forum bitching train!
Night for now and il check the post again tomorrow!!

I for one appreciate an educated, enlightening thread. Thank you for your contribution!

Yeah, ignoance is often favoured by society. It's how a lot of the population sleep at night. Safe in the knowledge these terrible things are not happening on our doorstep.
I'm just reading through some reports on the web now. Pretty horrid stuff. Looking at timelines leading up to events etc..
It's given me some bed time reading. Thanks ✌

Better self immolation than suicide bombing and killing others to make a point. Too bad the media gives more attention to the latter.
-
This is the first I have heard of any of these things: our TV broke and we don't listen to radio.
From what I've read here, that beautiful country of Tibet seems to be suffering, though some would say less than before communist times. As a several people said earlier in the thread, if anybody know anything more, please share it. I, for one, am going to do a little research.
Take care. ✌
-
If I remember correctly 17 Tibetan monks performed self-immolation last year. The Tibetan people have been suffering since the Communist Chinese took control in 1951. I'm supprised so many people are not aware of this already. And I can't believe someone said Tibetans were "liberated" by the Chinese. Next he'll say Poland was liberated the Nazis. Utter nonsense.

How's the research going guys? Just back from work and going out in a few mins so il try research later...
Any updates keep em coming and please, anybody from China read this yet? I need info!!! Lol
