There are many, many Christian, literal creation believing PHD's out there who are well respected by both Athiest and other Christian scientists?Being Christian, or indeed, Muslim or any other religion, has absolutely nothing to do with science.
Religion is a belief.
I believe that you need more faith to believe in evolution (that self-piloted Fighter Jet created itself over a period of a million years,, and look - no rust!) than you do to believe in creation (An intelligent God created the universe, hence its incredibly advanced workings that even the best scientist can't fully explain)

Evolution is founded on observations. It requires no faith. Your belief in god isn't backed up by any observations so it does require faith as it goes against all logic

Christianity is nothing but an excuse to commit murder and persecution. To look at the latest, not allowing gay marriage. You're not allowing a group of people to have basic necessary rights based on a religion

Christianity existed before cathlocism.
The roman emperor Augustus created the Roman Catholic Church, incorporating bits of other faiths, and basically took over the name of 'Christian'.
Martin Luther read the bible and realised that the Cathoics had some major flaws in their belief system, and he broke away: beginning the Prodestant Reformation. Note the name 're-form-ation'. He took the bible, and with it, brought people back to the old beliefs.^^History in a nutshell.
