With all the noobs that have come on board recently I just thought I'd write down some of the unspoken forum etiquette. Some may agree with some or all of what's below, please feel free to add anything.
-
1. How often can I post on the GD? This is how I break it down.... If you've been playing over 1 year you can post and create threads as much as you like. If you've been playing under a year but longer than 6 months feel free to post as much as you like but respect the the threads and opinions of those playing over 1 year.... To those playing under 6 months keep forum posting to a minimum, 1 thread creation a week and only posting a few times each day. No one really wants to hear what you have to say, mainly because you'll probably be gone before 6 months, Feel free to post in any other forum as much as you like.
-
I like these. Maybe nick could implement something like this.
-
2. Don't use the word 'retard' ever
3. Don't joke about suicide
4. Don't bump old threads
5. Don't post your invite code
6. If a post or thread is deemed to have broken these rules you will be sent to see the nurses in the ER.
7. Don't ask questions in the GD, use the help forum.
8. If you post personal issues expect to hear everyone's opinion good or bad.
9. Don't post a thread to nick, use feedback.
10. Watch out for the grammar police. -
11. Mob milestone threads should be reserved for 5k intervals and also those who reach godfather. 3k isn't an achievement. Well it maybe to you but not anyone else.
-
12. Since the forums opened up there have been 539 threads on Xbox vs PS3, for the love of god please don't make another one.
-
Nice 👍
-
12B. This includes more modern warfare vs battlefield
-

I'm sorry but I think you make it sound like those who've been here for a year or more, deserve more respect than anyone else.
Also, suggesting newer players post only one thread per week and a handful of posts is ridiculous.
No disrespect to anyone but going back over pages and pages of threads on GD and there is very little that isn't utter BS. That includes the waffle from people who've been here for a while.
Crap is crap no matter how newb/noob or self confessed 'vet' the author happens to be.

As I suggested in another 'oh boo hoo the noobs destroyed our precious forums' sniffles thread...
If people are so upset about the general content at the minute. Try setting a standard instead of crying about it!!
Post some threads you deem acceptable and interesting. So many people want change but none of them offering a solution! Crying isn't a solution, it just adds another thread to the top of the pile!

While I agree with most of this, as someone who's been here about 6 weeks, and plans on staying awhile, saying that no one cares about what we have to say and well prolly be gone in 6 months is a little harsh. Just my opinion.1. How often can I post on the GD? This is how I break it down.... If you've been playing over 1 year you can post and create threads as much as you like. OG leadership at its finest.👍

Exactly Gadget, I've been gaming for a while and I've seen #1 proposed before in other forums. Ive never seen it implemented though, All it would do is push newer players away which Is something any game DOES NOT WANT. You want your new players to feel welcomed and feel comfortable, not punished for being new. Snobbish eliteness will only kill the forum off.
-
I think everyone should be treated equally and not be less respected just because they're here longer.
Actually, respect should be gained, not earned by a period of time.
-
Hear, hear!

👏👏👏👏👏
☺

I agree with the latter posts though. Just not second. 😊

@Gadget: This isn't crying or complaining but rather providing some ground rules for everyone not just noobs.... And those who have been here for a year or more do deserve more respect. We know the ropes and have been here abiding by these rules long before you showed up and will be here after you have gone... That being said there are plenty of newer players who are awesome and sub consciously abide by most of these rules already...

The very fact you think you deserve more respect for being here longer than me is really very arrogant of you. And that's not exactly a great way of earning respect.
As is they way you think you have more right to use the services of the game more than anyone who's been here less time than yourself. The whole thing screams of arrogance.
This is not supporting noobs at all, it's degrading and elitist.
I've been here a few weeks, does it really hurt you that much if I have a constuctive opinion? By your guidlines I would have used up my weekly post budget by now!

Of course a player who has been playing longer than you deserves more respect, in game that is. Don't be such a blouse.... And yes newer players should post less in the GD and more in the help or other forums, or seek advice through direct PM's like every other player... And gadget I don't know you but your posts have been nothing but constructive. The very fact you think you deserve more respect for being here longer than me is really very arrogant of you. I think it's more that people who haven't been here long seem to put threads in wrong forums and make threads that 75% of the time have no point. Usually after they've been here a while they understand the general ways of the forums, and tend to fit into the turf wars community a bit more.

Respect of the game and respect of a the player are cometely different things.
I respect the fact people have larger mobs than me. I also respect the fact some people are a lot more understanding of the dynamics of the game and can support me. I respect that without question. However, I don't respect someone telling me I should respect them based on time served. As it happens most of the people I have encountered who talk more crap than most, are long time players! I won't be told to respect these people.

No need for the discrimination 😝🍸
