At what point does a noob stop being a noob?
Forums › General Discussion › At what point does a noob stop being a noob?-
Do you have to be a certain level? Do have to have played for a certain amount of time? Do you have to have a certain size mob or do you just have to stop doing noob stuff? I would love to hear all thoughts on this!
-
Well for one a non-noob doesn't ask what makes a person a noob
-
No I actually really like this question I was Gonna actually make a thread about it one day.
So yeah what is it because some people have like 1000 K mob, but they've been playing for two years. And if I Them I get yelled at. But they've been playing for two years and not noobs. What if a guys level one but has punch so many codes they got a 20 K mob. ?
What is a noob. -

My personal opinion is when u stop acting like a noob and doing noob stuff then you stop being a noob, I just would like to hear what everybody else thinks.Well for one a non-noob doesn't ask what makes a person a noob

I would say that a noob is somebody who lacks I'm both mob and knowledge so atleast lvl 30, and a bear min of 3k mob would make u no longer a noob:) thats what I say atleast!
-
It would vary person to person and it could be caused by many things like mob, time played, or how active you are in a forum
-
Mob is irrelevant, and level is also.
Your amount of knowledge and experience is the deciding factor. I know some who have played only a couple months who I would not call a noob, and some who have played for well over a year that I would call a noob. I've seen noobs with over 20k mob, and vets with 1k.
-
Also, the forums have nothing to do with noobishness. I would actually argue that the more time you spend there relevant to time on the map, the noobier you are.
-
I would refer you back to Bella's thread on newb vs. noob. Big difference. One you can grow out of, the other usually lasts forever.

Bassicly, pass me up...and you're no longer a noob.

I think that a noob is title given to new players, so maybe after half a year goes by then u are no longer a noob?

Noob is a gamers form of derogatory, often used as an insult, and the one that often lasts forever. -

I'm still young enough (TW age: 2-3 months) to be classed as a newbie. However, whilst my level of game understanding (strategy, diplomacy, general game know-how etc.) is well below the threshold of a vet, I believe anyone who called me a noob would be wrong. I know what I'm doing. I've got my plans and goals, I stick to them, and I have frequent decent conversations with other decent mobsters.Bruenor wrote:

I think it comes down to
-Time played
-Dedication to punching, and strategy used
-Player interactions, and your notoriety/presence
-The moment of realization when it just clicks, and you become aware of the fact that TW is basically a standard message board mixed with a more than standard core community of users, which has an online multiplayer mini game to play while you wait for replies. -

I think they stop being a newbie when they no longer do stupid things.

Thank you mr. Doux for clearing that up for me. I'm 35 but I never was much of a gamer until I discovered TW now I'm hooked but I'm still getting used to the lingo. I should have asked "at what point do you stop being a newbie?"Bruenor wrote:

Ok then, so that brings up the question. I have an extreme avoidance of punching codes for some reason, and I have not been leveling up like crazy. A lot of you have seen me on the forums and have worked with me in many situations. I have more knowledge of the game and its strategical mechanics than most non noobs. So do you people still consider me a noob? I don't think I'm a noob, but no one has told me I'm not, so what does the community think?

In response to SHADOWANGELD:
You are defiantly not a newbie. As I said earlier, qmob size, and level have nothing to do with being a newbie. Some ppl may not mob up or level up for certain reasons weather it be for strategic reasons or they just don't like to punch codes or don't have time. If you have a broad knowledge of the game and how it works you don't need a massive mob to be a vet and respected player. I have seen your comments in the forums and other players responses and you are both a vet and a respected player. -

Nope, not a noob! But potential a mule. LOL, a vet mule would have the same characteristic of low level, low mob and good knowledge of the game. But I think that mules are dying off, no game justification to have them since the recent rule changes.Ok then, so that brings up the question. In my opinion a noob has nothing to do with how new a person is to a game. I think a noob can be a level 155 or what ever level, but its the way a person plays that determines a noob.
-
When it grows to become a boob.
-
A noob stops being a noob when they learn about the game. And most importantly when they learn to take losses
-
A noob will always be a noob, for if they stop being a noob, they are no longer a noob.
I do not understand the question.
-
No clue. Some people like me haven't been a noob. It probobly depends on the person.
