A quarter went to killing people the desert.
A quarter went to health care that don't pay for it.
A quarter for stuff nobody knows about.
A nickel went to education.
A nickel went to veterans.
Two pennies went to natural resources and conservation.
Two pennies went to humanitarian assistance (in return for the quarter we spent on killing people)
Two pennies on courts and law.

Dear Bry,
Please turn off the radio. Rush, Glenn, Laura, Sean and the rest of the braying misinformed will get along fine without you.
Then, please turn off the TV. You will get along just fine without the disinformation machine that is Fox noise.
And, most importantly, educate yourself. The folks to whom you have invested your attention have repaid you by exploiting you ignorance with lies.
You owe it to these disingenuous folks to find the truth, something they would not recognize if the tripped over it during a walk in a sunny day.

I'm actually Am a left leaning libertarian (or believe in anarchism if you prefer). The point I to look at what you willfully give to people that aren't trustworthy and look what they do with it? Is it actually being put to good use?
I actually can't stand any talk show host. Would you rather listen to a fascist (rush) spew hatred or communist (olbermann)?
Hatred is hatred whether it's dressed in red or blue.

A Libertarian. So, you want the benefits of government without paying for government?

No I want government to pay for government that does what is supposed to do. Protect freedoms not special interests.

That is not libertarianism, what you just described are democrats and republicans. Nobody wants to pay taxes but nobody wants to do without.
Being libertarian means realizing your better without.
No I want to pay for a government that does its job. Protect freedoms and not special interests. Let the states do the rest like they're supposed to.
My problem is the waste.

The role of the Federal government is a simple one: national defense; secure borders; infrastructure appropriate and sufficient for public health, safety and commerce; and a level playing field for all citizens among the various States. The challenge is in doing these things adequately and consistently.

I think the CFR could be replaced by the "Boy scout rule".

Deregulate? Yes, look at all the benefit we citizens have received from the deregulation of the airlines, energy companies, banks, savings and loans and the financial markets in the last 30 years. What should we deregulate next? Worker safety? Transportation safety? Clean drinking water? Civil rights? Clean air? Building safety? Nuclear power?
-
And do not look to the GOP for deregulation. They're too busy regulating our free speech, free association, personal physical sovereignty and privacy rights.

I don't think you need special laws to protect people's right to life and liberty. If you do harm you should do the time. I don't care if you lead a 20000 employee corporation or not.
Regulation make sense, fixing the reason for regulation makes the most sense.

Actually SOPA and PIPA are both democrat creations (free all look who is leading the MPAA these days). Also nearly every democrat in congress vote for the patriot act.
Democrat or Republican thy are both wrong for this nation.

I grew up in California and we had a saying: Libertarians are just Republicans who want to smoke pot.
The issue isn't a Democrat or Republican problem. The challenge is the role extremism plays in the parties. Eliminate the fringes, focus on the common interests of those in the middle and we tend to all do well.
-
Look up what? Anarchism is unjust. It fails in the end to protect freedom. If you want anarchy you are a fool. If your talking about limited goverment, then thats not anarchism. Anarchy is NO goverment at all. Anyone can do anything. Tyranny can rule much more freely.

See the problem is republicans traded their liberal beliefs for the Christian right in the 60s and then corporatism in the 80s and 90s. Not to be left out democrats abandoned the middle and sucked up the unions since the republicans switched sides, and not to be left out they also adopted corporatism. So pretty much once you eliminate the extremes from both parties you end up with the middle... Libertarians if not in name, in belief. That middle are the hard working honest people today, that go to work with their neighbors, send kids to school wih their neighbors and watch the Super Bowl together.

Oh boy. And I was just saying in a thread the other day that was discussing religion, never talk about politics or religion to a group of people. It's bound to get heated every time.

And this is why you need to look up anarchism because you generated a preconceived notion off an unrelated word that sounds similar.

Oh btw OTB, I'm from San Diego but have lived in several different places in this country (from rural Indiana to Seattle) and out (the Netherlands).
When you throw out the irrational I've found that from place to place people aren't really that different.

Even so, just as you may think about what you are thankful for on thanksgiving, cogitate on where your money is going this April.

People who are in favor of anarchism, can also be called anarchists. Who advocate stateless socities. I dont know what you think it is. Anarchists are very similar to socialists and communists as well. You dont understand what you are in favor of. You are going down another bridge of socialism and communism. It can invite people like Hitler and Stalin, and peoples freedom can be taken away very easily. Its far from a free perfect ideology.Revenge wrote:

Revenge please take the time to read first then post. Anarchist is a term created in the 1860s to describe a militant socialist party. It has nothing to do with the polical philosophy.
