It's amazing how many school kids have iPhones . I bet they didn't buy those out their pocket money . Is the bank of mom n dad supporting this game ??

Don't forget about iPods.
-
I paid for all my stuff with my own hard earned cash.
-
I go to school, and my parents bought me this phone because I had good grades. D+ 👍
-
I saved up a year for this itouch and it's still in perfect condition( got it last summer)
-
at what age do kids start really carrying phones? my son is 8 and he's still young but he is a nycity kid and I think his surroundings make him more responsible by nature.
-
I don't think it's neccesary until highschool atleast
-
Wife and I both have iPhones so I figure after the next upgrade we'll give my daughter the oldest iPhone
(she's taken good care of her iPod touch) -
I saved up for it

high school?! that seems kinda old for a cell phone these days. I don't want my son running about the city in middle school using pay phones. "my mom says I can't have one until I'm fifteen." that seems barbaric.
and other question- should you gps track your kid?

I actually found my iPhone lol sike! I wish.. I bought it off my boy with my girls hard earnd money

Lol, such different times! I remember the big deal in high school was to have your own phone in your room (a landline for you young ones.) That wasn't even having your own line! Now in NY I can understand kids having them. However, sometimes I think kids today are spoiled, but I suppose every generation thinks that.

I think it depends, I definately know some spoiled little punks that have phones just cuz, and they have no one to call or text but their parents. On the other hand u think once kids start traveling to school on their own I think that's reason enough to give them a cell or atleast those kids phones that only store like five numbers (parents, relatives and emergency #'s)Lol, such different times! Not you specifically Grim.
I don't know, at age 16 I used to drive down into Houston most weekends to hang out with one of my friends (who didn't live in the nicest part.) Nobody had cellphones. In fact, her landline got cut off for a while so she used to use the payphone at the corner store. I had my first cell phone at age 28. Then after a few years we couldn't afford it so I didn't have one again until this last December. So last year I actually used pay phones several times. When is the last time anyone else remembers doing that? 😋

When I was in high school you weren't allowed to have a pager because drug dealers used them the set up deals. This was in the era of 90210 and car phones though... my my how things have changed.

It's the thing about are they parents? Or trying to be best friends with the kids...

I would have been grounded if I got D's! I was expected to get A's & got them. As I got older though I did get $ when I got A's as my final, end of the year grades. I guess it was similar to getting a bonus at work.

I paid half of my iPod touch. The rest my parents in exchange of no presents from them to me for a year. Am I spoiled ? 😨😨
-
Look at the school bags those kids are using ... LV for schooling ?.?
-
I got my iPod touch for my birthday and I pay for my own iTunes account. I first got my phone when I was 11 coz that's when I started secondary school and it was only a cheap crappy thing any way (cost £40) I dont think I'm spoiled. Tho I do agree many youngsters r spoiled these days. I know ppl in my primary school in like year 3 who have phones!!! OMG😱

I'm something like a "HousePerson", I finish school at 11, I come home and do house stuff like cleaning, I pick my youngest sibling up from school and help with hw, go to the store, etc. I don't get paid at all and at times I can see why housewives/husbands feel unappreciated lmao. I'm not spoiled at all, I do a lot. I couldn't get a job if I wanted too because I'm too busy. My iPod was a Christmas present from 2008. Sucks not having an iPhone (yet) though lol.
I got my first phone a week into the 7th Grade (12 years old), my commute was 3 hours (1.5 each way) on 2 buses.

I'm not calling anyone here specifically spoiled. I was speaking in a more general sense. But I also said that I imagine every generation probably thinks that of the next one. We jokingly refer to stories told by our parents of "when I was your age I had to walk to school in the snow, with no shoes, and it was uphill, both ways!" -LMAO! 😄
