Had the shower running and warming up..... went to pick up phone on counter and it slipped out of my hand and into the water... I grabbed it fast and it was still on and didn't seem to be damaged... got out of the shower and discovered the sound doesn't work anymore. I plugged my headphones in and they work fine... so my phone only works with headphones plugged in.... any advice???

After my toilet fiasco, someone suggested the rice thing, which I thought was ridiculous & made up, so I didn't try it. A week later, someone else suggested it. By that time it was too late. I say try it!!!

put your phone in a bowl of rice it could soak up the moisture. Also turn it off imediately and don't turn back on till you think it's drywhat do u mean a bowl of rice?

Hair dryer on low heat would probably work. You could also turn it off over night & allow it to dry out.
-
Turn if off. Let it dry for at least 24 hours. If there is any water in it, it is at risk of shorting out.
-
just avoid the microwave ;)
-
Supposedly if you put the phone in a bowl of dry rice (I'm assuming you should bury the phone in there), it draws out the moisture.
(btw, I'm okay with the word "moisture")

I was told by an IT guy to take sim card out and turn phone off and leave it in front of a fan... so i'm doing that. Phone will be off for the night... Y'all better not start a vendetta against me....:)
the good news is if I turn it on speaker phone i can barely hear out of it still... so hopefully it'll dry out and be normal tomorrow... IT guys say it's about 50/50

I used a container of rice on mine and it worked...just do it

I'm an engineering tech grad...if there is water there is the chance it will short out more then your speaker. The fact it still worked oterwise mean water hasn't got to any part of the circuit card in there and a fan may actually force water there. Rice really is your best bet unless you can come up with alot of silica ( that stuff they put in beef jerky or shoes or watever else they don't want moisture in )

😳 so u cant go mule hunting tonite?

Silica gel packets. Or so I've heard. My GF left her iPod touch in the rain the other day. I couldn't save it. I got my iPhone a little wet and it lost most of it's volume. I took it to apple and they replaced it but I didn't submerge it. In fact I think it got dipped in some rum. I really don't remember much from that night but you might be able to take it in if the rest of it still works. I forget where the moisture tag is on the phone but if they say you got it wet just give em hell.
-
I also remember reading somewhere that the mositure tag has changed on iPhones without being dropped in water. So do some google searches and bring it to apple you coils get a new phone tomorrow of it's not too old.
Good luck.

All I can say is if u have the device still under warranty, apple does an exchange 1-on-1. My device(1+ yrs) only worked in headphone mode for a while. brought it in & told them sound is broken , got a set exchanged like that(prob refurbished one tho)

One time, I went to some nightime charity walk and brought my iPod along. It DOWNPORED🌊🌊☔⚡ i was walking under an overpass and thw water coming off the overpass was like those huge buckets at waterparks. I went out for dinner after and somehow my iPod still worked perfectly fine. Guess alot of it's luck of how directly wet you get you iPhone/iPod.
-
I spilled a cup of water on my phone last year and the same thing happened, it lost sound unless you used the headphones. After a couple days it worked perfectly fine and I never had any other issues with it again.

Just turned the phone on after letting it dry for a few hours... the sound is back... phone is 100 percent.... thank you God
